Hey guys just wanted to share some pics of my new dump trailer that got delivered tonight. It's a 14' PJ trailer. I bought it from Sparks Trailers out of Minnesota, they were an AWESOME company to do business with. If I am ever in the market for another trailer like this I will definitely get ahold of them.

Keep an eye on the rear fenders with a full load when dumping, the fenders might get stuck in the tires and it won't go down. So I cut the bottom parts off.
I have PJ dump trailer too.

Where I live I believe as soon as your truck, trailer, and whatever is on your trailer exceeds 10k combined, you need them. Doesn't take much when you have a 3/4 ton Disel that's around 8k for the just the truck.

Thanks. Yes do check them out, great company. They have a few locations around Minnesota, and I had mine delivered by them for $1.00/mile. http://sparkstrailers.com/default.aspx
I do believe they sell enclosed.

It doesn't look like it, as I don't see a battery or a cable.
Anyways, that is one sharp rig

The breakway cable was hooked up, but it is really hard to see in the picture. The wire runs along one of the safety chains so it is hidden but it in the picture.

I had it loaded today and was dumping it and I just can't see how the fenders would go into the tires. Is it possible they changed the design since you got yours? I didn't have very much weight in the trailer but it had a good couple inches before it would meet the tire. I guess you said "full" load which I'm assuming is around 10k?

Yes it was full. They may of changed the design too. This is from the front fender and you can see how much I cut off.About 5 inches cut off.

I'm looking to buy a similar truck and trailer next year. I love my dodge. Is that a diesel or gas? How does it pull that heavy trailer?

Okay so I went and took picutres of my fenders to compare.
Looks like yours hang down about 5 inches.
Here's the front of my fender, looks like 2.5"

And here's the rear, about the same

So hopefully they realized they were hanging down too much and fixed the problem:confused:
And here's a pic from the dump;)

Mine is a diesel. It does okay, I have 35" tires so that takes some of the power too. You definitely feel it back there, but once my truck is in it's sweet spot she does fine. (Mine is auto) I wish it was a standard though.

Does your trailer have a strap down hook directly over where the lid for the pump going up? Mine has it and it lines up directly with the lid of the stoarage box..... My brother wasn't paying attention and left the lid open against the front of the dump and when he raised the trailer, the lid hande got caught on the hook and messed up the lid. Now the lock doesn't work on it cs of everything not lineing up. Just a heads up..

As a matter of fact I just noticed that today, the strap hook is facing down so it looks like it would do some damage when the dump was going down as well. Thanks for the heads up, funny I just saw that earlier today.

Haha, I don't know how it happened, but in that picture the dump looks WAY cleaner than it actually is.

Well 4-5 dumps and then goes on the charger......Thats dumping around 6k-7k of material. I was told it should charge off the truck but that dont seem to work unless thats something else to buy for that to work....Only time its pulled all day is when we are using it for doing Stump Grinding clean ups, Mulch is takin to the job..dump..then back to the shop it goes and thats usually a 10-20 min. round trip.

I see, well maybe mine charges it somehow. I usually pull it around for a day at a time.

You probably have a blown fuse in your truck. Open the fuse box under the hood (GM Ford or Dodge) and look for the fuse called Trailer Tow Battery Charge or similar. It will put constant 12V power to the upper right hand post of your 7 way RV plug and that will trickle charge your battery. You should never have a dead battery on a PJ dump with an Interstate deep cycle battery. Definitely check your fuse. If you dont have a fuse simply run a 10 guage wire from your battery to the top right post of your plug.

I'm surprised you didn't get a double piston for the extra boost

Good point, I had to replace the "trailer lights" fuse in my truck because I had no running lights on my trailer, just brake and signal lights worked. Have no idea how the fuse got blown, but works like a charm now.

Didn't know you could get a double piston with a scissor lift, don't really need it anyways...dumped a 7100 pound load without a grunt.

Make sure the fuse isn't a dummy. In the new GM's the wire is taped near the master cylinder. I dont know how it works for other trucks, but i had to have mine hooked up for the constant voltage. This will also give your interior trailer lights. To only get 5 dumps out of a battery is insane and a complete waste of money.

Not to hijack your thread, but since we are talking about the batery and charging. My 04 silverado, it doesn't charge my battery, is that a fuse issue or?

Depending on the style of truck you might need to run a seperate hot wire to the 7 way pin. On my 1500 i had to do that to get interior lights working in my trailer. My other 2 trucks had everything set up, just had to connect it at the fuse box.
