Well, i got this POS for FREE, so im gonna just tinker with it, nothing fancy. It is an old A$$ Murray 22" with a 3.75HP BS on it.
I put fresh fuel in it, and starting fluid in it, and it fired up on like the 5th pull.
It runs, but the throttle adjuster dont work so its stuck on "Turtle", so it wont cut grass. And the back tires are bent real bad...
It hasnt been used in over 5 years, it was my moms like 10 years ago and she gave it to my sister and brother-in-law like 8 years ago...
I plan on just fixing it up to improve my repair skills... and have another mower...

Hey, at least its American made...
Sorry its a MTD

Keep it just because it MADE IN THE USA!! You won't see that much longer.
I think it is a great little project. This really isn't that complictated once you get into it.

Thanks man... I taped off the decals (saftey one, and the one with model numbers), but when i took the tape off (when i was grinding) i accidentally took off the last two digits in one o the numbers, maybe the SN... But if i can find the new decals for a decent price...

Hope you used high temp paint for the motor.
Otherwise it's going to stink the first time you heat it up.

In a throw away society, it is nice to see what you did with the mower for little money. Wish there was more of this.

I would guess you will see more and more of this in the years to come. I think people might just realize the value of a dollar once more. Nice job on the mower. I am getting ready to do my Gravely when the grass quits growing. -Jason

I think that it would actually be fun to fix up an old mower/dirtbike/car, or whatever. Here is an old ferris that need transmission work, but the motor is suppose to be good. How much does a new transmission usully run? And do you think that it would be worth it in the end?

It's good to pratice restoration on a cheap mower, so when you get the project that's worth some coin you know what your doing.
