This morning when I refilled a push mower I got blasted with a face full of gasoline.

I took a safety can from a cool garage into the sun. Then 15 min later used the safety can to fuel a push mower. I lowered the nozzle then pulled back on the handle. The mower had 1/2 tank, the tiny tank filled instantly and a geizer of gas blasted me in the face.

I wear contacts. Thank god I was at home and could run in to use a sink.

My advice:

NEVER NEVER NEVER smoke when fueling. If I was smoking it would be a scarred face for life, and blindness.

Wear safety glasses when fueling.

Relieve pressure before turning nozzle down.

Keep eyewash in your truck, in case an accident occurs when you are not near water.
