I am located in NE Florida and would like to diversify my business with irrigation repairs and installations...I know that a license is needed, and I am currently waiting to hear back from my local county Building dept., but in the mean time I was wanting to hear from anybody that knows the process and any of your experiences...
-Is it true that I need to be an apprentice for some other irrigation company to obtain my own irrigation license?
-Or is it just a test and small fee to recieve?

Good question. I have been doing my own small repairs and add-ons for years. I would like to do entire sytems. I have talked to a couple of companys that said you only need the license if you dont have a plumber install the backflow preventer. Try searching under the irrigation forum.:usflag::usflag::usflag:

Good news! After many hours of exploring the DBPR website. I found the one page that says exactly what you need a license to do. As long as the backflow preventer is in place you are good to go with no special contractor license. Your county may require you to have an occupational license (tax certificate, fictitious name) Here is the link http://www.myfloridalicense.com/dbpr/pro/division/Servicesthatrequirealicense_Construction.html
