My service manual doesn't show how to pull this apart to reseal.. I can't make out how to get it apart either. It's on a RC-30.
Anyone here pulled one of these apart?

Yeah..
Its really annoying. There is basically a small wire/rod that is inserted through the side hole where you would usually unscrew the gland nut on the cylinder. You have to work it out and then the end cap will come off. I can't remember if it is easier to hold it and try to twist the cap? I think one time I used a punch and was able to pull it out by driving the wire away from the hole. The wire/clip might be able 1/8 inch diameter or a bit larger.
Basically there is a recessed groove on the cylinder body and the gland cap. Driving the wire piece in holds them together. Similar to a big flexible keyway I guess one might say?
I hope that makes some sort of sense. It is a dumb design.

sounds like my ditchwitch. there should be a slot in the side of the cylinder somewhere by the cap clean this out so you can see in it then turn the cap till you see the end of the snap ring use a small screwdriver or something to get under it then turn the cap backwards backing the ring out. installation is just simply hook the snap ring into the cap and turn it. My kits came with a new snapring that had a hook on one end and the rest was straight.

I wish I had a picture to go along with your explanations.... I see a piece of "wire" in the slot but don't quite follow how this attaches or fits into a groove inside the cylinder.
Of course ASV doesn't show a parts break down of the cylinder in the book I have. :hammerhead:

I don't have the old parts or I would show you but I'm not sure of how the asv is it just sounds like my ditchwhich. My bet is that if you turn the cap while watching in the slot you will find the end of the snapring or wire then you need to fish this end out of the slot and turn the cap back to basically unwind the wire or snapring till you get to the end then it should come out and the cap should be free
