Price is alright, not a steal by any means, though. There's no way that paint is original, hoses rub on paint and there's no rub anywhere. Also, the undercarriage is spotless, no missing paint there which is practically impossible for a machine with 1,800 hours. I don't like being lied to, I'd rather a guy tell me he's repainted a machine vs. someone who obviously has but says he didn't.

Picasso,
Looks ok but.......after buying my first mini ex with 1,100 hrs from the original owner, then making a CTL purchase of a machine with 300 hrs. I would say look for less less hours.
On a mini excavator, hours seem to mutiply quickly when it comes to pins, bushings, track assembly and house swing tooth bearing areas. Some areas that even with pin and bushing replacement will still produce slop in the joint because side movement has worn the joint itself (ie; boom to stick(dipper) or stick to bucket)
I learned about the bucket to stick wear on my mini purchase. Which ended up costing a bit.
I guess it depends on what you intend on putting in for hours on your new machine. I put on many more that expected (which is a good thing) but now wish that I had purchased a mini with hours closer to those on my CTL.
The market is flooded with machines with 400+ hours that were new additions to a companies rental fleet. I say inflict your own wear on the machine (in it's critical years) and the result will be a fair trade in value on your next piece.
Just my 2 cents :)

If you can handle the tail swing there is no machine out there pound for pound that will dig with the Tak TB145. It is a power house.
What are your digging conditions?
What is the intended use?

I cannot believe that is original paint. Too many spots on the machine that should have wear from use do not. I assume you'll be looking at the machine in person, if you find out or can see that its been painted I'd be apprehensive about the purchase. No telling what it looked like when it came in on trade or worse-repo.

Origional Paint? Not! No way no how.......unless they mean the colors they repainted it with are origional colors. Too many machines out there to fall for that one. Depending on your work, if I had to pick one machine for all around it would be a 12,000 lb machine.....you can debate color/manufacturer's all you want, but that is the weight class I would choose. Machines are a dime a dozen, stick with your neighborhood to avoid trucking/shipping cost, inspect the machine in person, take over payments on a local unit........the choices are endless.

12,000 pound is the ideal size.Tha Tak TB145 packs the same power and stability in a 10K machine but it has a standard tail.
I will also add get a machine with a quick attach and as many buckets as possible.A hyd Thumb is a must have as well.
Buckets run a 1000 dollars a peice and you will need several different digging buckets as well as a clean out bucket and you will hate changing them without a quick attach.

It's a good deal, our ZX27 has 1200 hours and no major damage, c'mon people, this is a HITACHI, not a BOBCAT excavator, it's in great shape.
If it had 3000 hours I would be saying different.

My guess is the boom/stick were painted or maybe touched up (missing Hitachi decal on the right side), but the rest of the machine looks original. U/C doesn't appear to have been painted. Seems like a fair price for a cab/A/C machine that new and that size. Would guess you could get them to drop $2500 pretty easy on a straight out deal in this economy. Get them to throw in extended warranty on the deal in lieu of some of the cash discount.

I know that machine,It was a repo in the northwest washington, I know it came from was a water hookup comp. that had it.The paint is over all is not a repaint, the Hitachi decal on the right is not they on the new ones? The dealer tags on the machine is PAPE machiney and they are not in texas.I would say that is a good deal. MY deere mini still looks that good or better with more hours.

Myself I kinda figured that machine was from the Pacific Northwest because look at the thumb and bucket. It is hard to tell but the bucket looks like it says CWS. You don't see too many machines in the southern states (west coast) with a thumb plus the fact a forestry type thumb.

i feel better buying a exc. with higher hours then i do a ctl or skid with high hours. im sure many will want to argue it but i feel its easier for some to run a ctl "hard" and abuse it then it is for a mini to be run hard. yeah p&b's still get worn out but they all will. with a ctl its been banging out tree stumps pushing like a d8 and just getting rode like a ten dollar hooker for 2,000 hours.
im comparing theis machine to the prices ive seen on 50d's, it seems to be around 10k-15k less then what im use to seeing now. i know a hitachi is a good machine to boot, i was looking for deere but that machine is the set up im looking for.

I noticed the Pape sticker too and was curious as to why it's in Texas. I think $25K would be a steal, I don't think the listed is too much by any means, though.

the left track works fine forward and reverse. the right track feels like something is physically jammed to keep it from turning. it can go about 3'' forward and 3" back but it feels like the parking brake is on. then i saw a tiny bit of brown greese coming ount of the drive. im not to happy.
jdskidsteer feel free to chime in with your wisdom. oh and i will be calling very soon to get that hydro quick tach cylinder.

Junior, parking brakes on a hydraulic driven machine are not actual drum or disc brakes like most people think, it's just a simple solenoid valve that keeps the oil from the drive motors from going anywhere, thus locking the motors up when the power is disengaged.

Oh, never knew that. I was just making assumptions. :hammerhead:
