My new Z400 (37hrs) threw a big puff of smoke upon initial start-up two days in a row. Is this normal or a sign of something wrong?
Oil level and hydro levels were within range.

Upon a cold start up the engine is usually choked and the choke procedure sends more fuel into the cylinder to start the engine. This creates a richer mixture and creates that initial larger puff of smoke. It will be a black colored smoke and it will only last a few seconds and then will dissipate to the normal amount of engine smoke.
