hey guys on my push mower the self propel wont disengage. it stops propelling but the wheels wont unlock, in order to get the wheels to turn u must engage the self propel. am i making any sense? its hard to explain.

it it a cable or a shaft that engages/disengages the wheels?? (and it did make sense to me!!!!!!)

You didn't say what brand of mower it is. On some self-propelled mowers you need to release the opc for the engine a little to get the drive to unlock.

its a craftsman 22", newer, not sure what opc is but normally to turn of the self propel i let go of the handle about half way and it turns off.

opc= Operator Presence Control, the zone start system, or the handle you pull down when starting and hold while it's running:)

sts, those cheapy drive systems are real simple. Just take it apart and look at it. It shouldn't take you more than a few minutes to find the problem. It could be the OPC cable is streched.
