Ever wonder where all the Repo'd cat equipment goes to? Well I just happened to take a little trip to the cat repo yard.

most of the mini's and skids were new or had low hours on them, just about every machine had been repainted, or touched up.

Lot's of rental machines there.
I really like the 939 twins, very rare to see them.

WOW that is a lot of iron. Sad state of affairs when the repo yards are that full. A lot of long time businesses hitting the skids.

We have a repo lot here too. Ours looks to be a little bigger. My cat rep says there are a total of four repo yards in the us. In the lot here he said there were only 40 machines for sale the rest were tied up in court

I'd like to have one especially for clearing instead of a CTL. Set it up with Q/A and aux so I can run a grapple till all the clearing and raking is done, then switch over to a 4n1 and grade the hell out of the place..

Overkill? Probably! Why not a skid? Well, why not a trackloader?

That first picture is about 2/3 of the equipment there, I was standing on the hood of a D8 to take it, I could get a shot of the rest. Like it was said, most of this can't be sold as its tied up in court and bankruptcy

Ok now here's my question: how in the hell do you repo a 385 while trying to be sneaky about it?

That and/or make sure you've got a PD escort with you.

I've been there done that. Except I was wrongly on the other end.

F*ckin a**hole came onto MY YARD without any kind of permission. In my mind that constitutes trespassing. But first he drove his POS pickup truck down the driveway to my shop doing at least 10 or 15mph then slammed it in reverse and did the same going out. Friggin a*s. All I can think is what if one of my kids or employees walked out from behind a walking floor trailer I had there? That stupid ******* would've killed them. And for what? A 20,000$ dozer? Gimme a break. And he was barking up the wrong tree the whole time. I told him to GTFO or he was gonna have problems so he brought in his officer. We all had a "nice little chat" and he ended up saying he didn't need to check my dozer's Serial #, but he was informed he ought to do so within the next 1/2 hour or he'd have serious problems if he showed his face again.

And another time I was doing sitework for a new Lowes. I got to the site one morning and some repo moron had my, as of then, new TD15 Dresser dozer loaded on his trailer and was chaining it down. I paid that machine in full when I bought it. No lien on it. Ever. So the moron tries to tell me he was told to repo it. I get him to check the serial # on his sheet and compare it to the serial # on my machine. No match. Friggin moron was looking for a machine 5 miles down the road.

I've never had a machine repo'd and hopefully never will. And as you can tell I hate those SOBs that do repos.

There's the few that are ok, but the rotten apples in the bunch just make them all look bad.

I like the 939's too. Always been partial to Cat "Traxcavators" since that was one of the first pieces of equipment my granddad taught me to run.

Chris, I think that 385 fits you a lot better than that mini....

It will take a while to sell the newer equipment since most of it is probably barely paid on and is almost the same price as new. Things will take a while to sort their selfs out but I think all will get better in time. It amazes me that they can and need to keep making new equipment when all those repo machines are sitting their. If they could only be allowed to sell them then maybe that would start to fix things........ What a shame!

So that is just CAT........what about the rest of the industry stockpiling all this iron. Oh whow is me as I look down the road at used equipment prices. These guys will flood the market with used iron......unless....we can all sneak in there with plasma cutters for a week.

No need to worry Junior look at the first page. You quoted Ron in post 8 and said you wanted one for clearing. At least I can see it.
