Pretty simple but vegue question. What differentiates your LCO from the others.

What makes "you" stand out and say "We are the best"?

What makes customers choose you?

What I am trying to sell is that I am small and the customer will see me on the job every week.

They will also talk to me if they need anything or have questions or problems.

That seems to be appealing to people so far.

I have the best prices. We will match or beat almost any quote.

I don't claim to be "the best". There are LCO's that do better work than us, I know this. But people get good, RELIABLE service every week. Their calls are returned within a few hours, and problems taken care of quickly. They see the same men on their property every week, with company shirts and hats on. My men smile and say hello. I feel this differentiates my company from many others in this area. Mike

one thing sets me apart from SOME local lcos is that i am concerned about quality, for example this week i double mowed almost every lawn and charged the normal price, but others mowed one time and left, i feel i should do what i have to do to make the job look perfect. another thing is many customers find it a pleasure to work with me, i receive many compliments that they enjoy haveing conversations with me and it makes the time much mre pleasureable, they also say that i give much more insight on ways to make there lawns and landscapes look better.

1. I am a professional that offers the best value, not the best price.

2. I bring dog buiscuits for all the dogs on my routes and carry newspapers from the drive to the front door.

3. I have a profile for each customer from conversations. I know their kids names, birthdays, and what kind of whiskey they drink.

LGF, how about you? You can't just ask us without giving up some of your secrets.

These things don't necessarily make people choose me, but it does keep them around.

What sets me apart from the rest? I have worked long and hard to bring up the standard of mowing quality as a whole in the area I live in. I am willing to share with my peers almost everything I have learned here, by personal experience and from those all too valuable management classes that SMO Oil Co. was kind enough to pay for all those years ago. And the effort shows.

I am prompt, courteous and likeable.

I do a very good job and sometimes spend too much time on a lawn just to get it right.

I use top quality equipment and maintain it well so that I never have to call a customer and say "I can't cut your grass this week, my mower's broken.

There are lots of other little things but I think it is a good work ethic that sets me apart.

I don't really consider myself better than the rest but smarter and more efficient. Here are our strengths.

1. Our excellent quality service and maintainance. Since I don't drive, I am only doing work on my street and this is my helpful slogan," Our job is to service your needs: We take the time to make sure that every job is done correctly and precisely because we are not running from city to city mowing like most lawn service providers."

2. Our customer service is excellent. We handle all of our questions and concerns within 24 hours or we will halve the price of your next weekly service.

3. Our responsibility to keep the customer happy and the money coming in.

What makes me different from other LCOs is,
Personal, professional service
the fact that I am dependable and honest.
I do the best that I can do, even if it means that extra time will be needed to do it until I am satisified.
I try to answer all calls within a short time. Some of the customers that I have had for 7 years still thank me for calling back in a timely manner.
I make an effort to try to talk to customers and see if they are having problems, which they never are.

whats sets us apart in our image. Clean equipment uniform, shirts and total clean image. plus we sell our service not our product. We arent the cheapest by far in my area. In this business we are only good as our last cut so always go the extra mile for the customer. And we always make sure our lawns have that manicured look to it .

Well since you asked, I quoted you bacuase so far you and all the posts have been the have been right on.

I don't keep a profile, but I do remeber the little stuff the customers tell me.

BTW I just bought anouther 10 pounds of dog treats. My dog hates them.

Quality reliablility quality reliablility quality reliablility.

We make the lawns stand out as best as we can, charge fare but on the high end prices, have dependable machinery.

Work and clean up well.

Do what customers ask for within reason.

For a long time around here, we were know as the guys with the Dodge Rams, but now there are so many, it is sometimes hard to pick us out at a distance.

Only thing I feel I have left to improve on is company uniforms. (don't have any yet)

Keep em coming, I want to here some of what is not in the norm. I have 2 but, I want to see some one else post it.

I don't have any dogs to give treats to. I'm sure my customers have dogs. Their just not out when I cut. I think what most of my customers like about me is that I don't bother them. I haven't even met half my customers in person. Most of the time, I get a call for a Estimate. I go look at it, call them back and they hire me over the phone. I bill most of my customers once a month. It makes it alot easier for me too. I don't have to spend any extra time knocking on the door and getting paid. If I cut 3 lawns next to each other, and had to stop and talk to each one to get paid. I would be there an extra 15 min. By the end of the day I would have about an hour tied up in collections.

The man they hire is the man who cuts their grass. (me)

There was a realtor I mowed for who instructed me, "Have your man, when he trims not to get clippings in the flower beds."

I looked him straight in the eye and replied "Ken, I am the man. So there won't be any clippings in the flower beds."

The customers I have appreciate this kind of service.
Of course there are lots of customers with different expectations.

i keep a very small client base, no advertising, only word of mouth. this ensures i can give each customer the attention they want. i also don't mind doing other stupid odd jobs around the yard...( i.e. " would you mind moving those rocks over there, i'm too f'in lazy to do it myself " ) while i'm mowing........good luck y'all.

1) I always return calls every evening. It is surprising how many guys around here do not do that.

2) I always give an estimate within 24 hours at the lastest. People do not like to wait.

3) I write down facts about every customer. I send cards for birthdays, graduations, deaths. I also bring surplus vegatables from my garden to some of my customers who appreciate them.

4) I always leave a job as neat as possible.

5) I charge more than the average, but I also deliver more.

We all have the choice to make our businesses into whatever we wish. I like to use the car dealer comparison. You can be cheap in price and quality like a Yugo. You can be high in price and quality like Mercedes. It is all what We make of it.

We guarantee that when we make an appointment for an estimate, meeting, or site eval with you, if we are late you get a $10 bill.

Assuming that there are not any extraordinary items (like a pure white block that I still can not find anywhere on earth for a retaining wall) we guarantee that you will have your estimate back in 4 business days or you get a 10% discount.

It is extreme but it keeps me hustling..

What sets me apart? Customized service!

I live in a big oil town... Which was just a small group of houses until the oilsands projects started in the late 70s... over 50% of this town lives in trailers/modular housing. (Rent is FREAKING EXPENSIVE, as high as you'd see in LA/SF California)

I'm offering 2 levels of service, one mainly intended for the trailer parks, where most people just don't have time to do it themselves (most work a 12on, 3 off shift). I'm not offering them a high quality cut, just a cut and bi-weekly trim. They're told in advance, they're getting a cheap price, because I'm not going to guarantee they couldn't do better themselves. (This is where my inexperienced labour is getting to learn the trade) Right now I have last checked 86 cuts between the 3 trailer courts (modular housing developments whatever)

The other service level, is the one I do myself, this is a very high quality cut (looking forward to trying out this striping stuff I've learned on here) Mowing is every week, alternating the 4 normal lines (tho occasionaly I'll toss in a creative one) Trimming is done properly and every week. Cleanup is done properly, you wont find grass on the sidewalk, driveway, in beds. I include an estimated 5-10 minutes of cleanup on each yard before I start work, for toy pickup, doggy doo pickup, whatever is needed to get ready to mow. Also includes moving those darn rocks off the lawn and back into the rockbeds. Lawns look pristine when finished. Right now we have 16 of these customers.

To avoid headaches, when I do the estimate, I fill out a customer sheet, I've got GPS location, digital pictures of front and back yards, lists of trees in the yard, entry information (how wide gates are etc) Also keep 'geneology information' Customers names, what they prefer to be called, kids names, Pets names (with picture) grandkids names... All of this gets stored in a database, some gets printed out for crew's useage, should save on a lot of those 'whoops mowed the wrong place' f**kups. The trailer parks would be the worst, so easy to mess up which street your on, at least they've got a picture of the front of the house to double check :)

i fiqured this out mowing one day last year and now on the back of my truck there is a sign that reads 1. safety, 2. quality, 3. quantity
our quality explains our price.
almost all of my customers found me personally, got my name from my mom (relator), or a customer recommend me. With that i feel that i have obliagation to fill or i'm letting myself down, my workers and the ppl my mom or the other customer recommened.

If you talk to ANY landscaper...from a scrub to a top dog...they're all gonna say...We're different from the rest because we're reliable, friendly, professional, courteous...blah blah blah
So I'm not going to try and say thats what "sets me apart from the rest", because we all strive for that.

What does set us apart from the rest in our area is our rig. At any given point while driving through town with our truck & trailer our name & 4-color logo with phone # can be seen in 21 different places. 5 places on the 1-ton dumptruck, 4 signs on the trailer, 3 signs on the catchers of both our Walkers, and on the front & back of the 3 employees shirts in the truck. The other thing that "sets us apart" from the rest of the lco's in our area is that the oldest person on our crew is 20 years old...we're all young guys.

We have yet to get our enclosed trailer yet...still saving my pennies...can't wait to make that into a rolling billboard!
