Can the Hunter PGV valve can be mounted vertically, i.e. with the inlet port pointing up? I can find nothing stating the valve must be installed horizontally.

Thank you.

I have seen Toro valves mounted this way and they worked fine, I would guess most any irrigation valve would function OK.

I have installed Rainbird DV-100's vertical in A greenhouse and they worked fine also

What is the situation that it needs to be verticle

There are a couple situations that arise for it to be necessary

For the most part if it's vert your doing it wrong

Thanks for the examples where it worked OK.

Got this from Hunter: Please have the Inlet on the upside of the valve and the Outlet on the bottom of the vertical installation.

It happens that I wanted the top of the valve to be the inlet. (Sometimes good things happen).

Two zone valves will mount against a wall in a vertical plane along with the regulator, PVB, blowout port, and master valve forming an inverted "U". Four 1" pipes will end up going through the wall to the outside: copper input, PVC main output, Poly Zone 1, and Poly Zone 2.

I like the unions on both sides makes an easy swapout. As much as it seems to be more work they are all easy to work on when not buried in dirt covered with walnuts or whatever else squirrels can fit in there.I serrvice 1 McDonalds with 24 RB DVs in a cabinet and its very easy working on them if need be.

Wow! Nice pictures. And that is the reason I am mounting the valves above grade and inside the garage: To make them easy to access and service and to keep the PVB warmer during the winter before taking the time to blow the system out or to trust the line valves to do their thing. I notice the inlets are on the bottom on the picture. Perhaps that doesn't matter with those valves like it does with the Hunter PGV.

I almost have it assembled. Hope to have that done tomorrow. I'll post a picture.
