Looking at buying a 2000 F350 pickup.

2000 Ford F350 XL
40K miles, 8' bed, regular cab
Never Plowed, No AC
Needs a new 8' bed
Fleet vehicle
No

I'm thinking of purchasing this and installing a 2 month old dump insert for another $2800. The truck was fleet maintained and has no problems except AC doesnt work as far as I know. I'm going to have a mechanic look it over.

For $4000 does this sound like a smart choice??

so your going to have 7k into it and not yet replaced the bed. I think you can do much better!

whats wrong with the bed? If its just dents who cares its a wt. Slap an insert in it and get some high sides on there and be done.

Oh and btw this 350 is SRW right?

With that truck I wouldn't even mess with a new bed, paint it white and be done. That truck reminds me of a friends 99' ex forest service F250, beat to hell with god knows how many miles that he found for $1500. He drove it in a lake hydrolocked the engine fixed it and sold it for 3k.

I'm thinking of painting it dark grey and doing a high vis lime green outlined in a hot pink

Why so few miles on a 10 year old truck?

That makes sense then. If it goes over well with the mechanic than I think it would make a good wt....can't complain about a 4k truck that works

Sounds like a winner to me, I am looking at a similar one here, 02 contractors truck 100k all fine except a smashed tail gate and they are asking 2900. I would have already jumped on it but the guy selling is shifty. Might end up with it parked in my driveway anyway it just makes the decision harder.

If the title is clean I'd buy it for $2900

Paint option sounds great. There is a guy on here with a flatbed F250 that is dark green like your chevy, he painted the grill lime green and used big vinyle graphics in the same color. The truck stands out!

I think so. We have a 99 250, and a 2000 350, both with about 110k on them. Been plowing all winter, and pulling trailers all summer for most of those miles. They're beat now, but still get the job done.

Do you guys think it'd be better to put a dump insert in or just rip off the bodu and get a dumping flatbed installed?

If your looking for just a lawn truck I would buy that in 2 seconds paint it and maybe...maybe later on down the road put the insert into it. You'll be over weight pretty much no matter what you put in the bed with an insert. Thats a good deal.
