I am trying to find out what everyone is using to cut reclaimed r/r ties.
I swear everytime I build one I say it's the last one...
They seem to dull everything known to man instantly.

I have only cut 10 or so, but I used my Stihl 025 chain saw. It worked great.

The last small wall I did had 43 ties... My stihl lasted about ten. Chain was butter. Second Stihl was the same. Sawzall burned off extreme duty blades in no time. I chewed on a few before my teeth gave out...lol....

stihl has a carbide tipped saw chain specifically for use in dirty lumber such as railroad ties, look it up here:

Wow, that is a crazy good deal. It is an amazing machine. It is really stong and fun to operate. I will say that I still use my old bobcat and my mini ex more. The 252 is so big it's not useful for most residential work unless ur in a big new development. It destroys everyting u drive over haha.
None-the-less, I wouldn't want to be in anything else when I need to do heavy work or run big attachments...
