:confused:So I signed up a new residential customer to mow their lawn and to try to bring it back to life. They have had some issues so far this season with sprinkler system not working right etc. The homeowner shows me her back yard and throughout the lawn are all of these black spriders all over the place. It looks like they burrow down into the soil and are feeding off of the lawn roots. The lawn looks horrible. I'm not sure what to do because I've never run into anything like this before. Any suggestions??

Silver,
I would like to see a pic of the actual spider in its location. I believe that the lawn is infested because of neglect and or poor--inconsistant mowing. The spiders that are oftern seen around here are the funnell spiders on lawns and shrubbery. They will spin a funnel into the upper crown of the grass and shrubs. Then they wait at the base until something disturbes the web. The other spider of concern is the hobo and the black widow---not to mention the terrible recluse.
There are other things going on in this lawn as the spider is there for the feast, so there may be other insects like worms, beetles, crickets, predatory spiders that are feeding these guys. With a picture,we can help you diagnose a solution.
