I was getting my trailor repaired and the shop that was doing the repair happened to have a 86 0r 89(can;t remember) f250 duelly diesel for sale. The price was $4500 including a 16ft trailor. Both had good black paint and the truck had a good body. The trailor had electric brakes and duel axles. The truck did smoked considerbly and this turned me off. I have had a cummins diesel and it didn't smoke at all. I am not sure that model even is a true diesel. What do you guys think? Good deal or bad?

I have a '93 F-250 7.3 with 194,000 miles on it. Mine does not smoke unless it is being operated at high elevations (7,500') when thick black smoke billows under acceleration.
A thin gray vapor like smoke appears when the truck is idling. The present owner may have turned up the fuel to get more power, that will cause smoke.

Thanks for the good info Greenie. I think you described the smoke billowing at idle. I was really wanting the f-350 but the price and trailor included is tempting.

I wonder about the dually 250? I am nopt that knowledgable on older Fords. I can't see why someone would run a dually on a 3/4 ton. Maybe it was a swap? I would like some more info on this part.

Thats what I was wondering. When I first walked up on it I thought it was a 1 ton since it was a duelly. Then I saw only 8 lugs and the 250 on the side and my heart dropped. This one is a 4 wheel drive. I would probably get the job done for what I wanted it for but still i want a 1 ton lol

As far as the smoke, some body more than likely turned the fuel up on it. As far as the dually, Ford did make a real handful of them. Why I have no clue, it does look stupid but I have seen probably 20. Way too many to have been custom made by some home owner wanting a heavier truck with out paying for a real one.
