Hi,
I'm in Minnesota.......
I'm trying to grow pumpkins for my grandkids.
Bugs are eating the buds off of the stems.

The temps have been in the mid 70's for highs and down to the low 60's at night.
It's 57deg right now.

I havn't seen cutworms in awhile, and on occasion I do see ants.
help is appreciated.

Thanks.

I'd spray them with something if you can't physically kill them. Cayenne Pepper spray might work, Neem Oil, or Sevin dust.

I had the same problem last year with the mexican bean beetle. Kiled the pant in no time. We tried a few organic killers and they just laughed at us. So my wife bought some ortho product I believe.
I believe the spined soldier bug works on them.

I did the corn meal for the cutworms and it did work very well.
I have recently applied cayenne and seven, and neither are working on
the new stem chomping evil doers.

I put down a few boards in the walkways to see if anything will be there
in the mornings, but nothing is there.

So I don't know what insects are doing the damage.
But whatever they are, they must be related to cockroaches I guess.
