The Purple Heart is a great annual.

You can take clippings off of them and multiply them. I have a mother plant I keep indoors in the winter. I've had it for 5 years and every year I root about 50 new plants every year.

A wondering jew has an oval leaf and is purple with silver on the leaf.

Some wondering jews in FL I've heard are becoming a nuisance. There is also a green variety of wondering jews too.

If you can't find one around your area, I might be able to send you a start if you want.

Just let me know, sometimes you can find it easily at a nursery and sometimes you can't.

Supposedly it was popular back in the day then it seemed like I couldn't find it at all for about 4 years or so.

This year I found a handful of places that started carrying it again.

It's actually called Wandering Jew (not wondering), Tradescantia zebrina.

Oh, it shouldn't be that big of a deal. I'll have to just clip one off and root it in water for a week or so and then ship it. Probably wouldn't have more than 5 bucks in it, and the post office is 4 blocks away.

Sometimes when I move the mother plant around in the summer, I get sections of it that fall off. I just take it and stick it in the ground and eventually it takes hold. Also, in the winter, I stick the mother plant in the basement next to a window. When it gets little sunlight it actually turns more of a green color.

Ultimately, the great thing about the Purple Heart is that it is extremely hardy and multiplies rapidly once established. In the winter, If it only gets watered once every 4 weeks, it will still live. (but not great)

I would just call the local nurseries, especially ones that carry more specialty items. I would think you could find it, but then again, maybe not.
