ive just used an s185 with harley rake and bucket for the past week, and i cant say i was that impressed with it. i liked the 317 deere i used before alot better, but the aux controls on the deere compared to the bobcat werent as nice.

All have there pros and cons. Only problem I see, they are in different classes. what size machine are you looking for?

The 300 is a nice machine for brute work and force but for running a trencher installing irrigation and doing fine work its a pain imo. Its a great machine for grapple work or moving alot of dirt fast, as long as you arent worried about tearing anything up..

I'd figure out exactly what size machine you want, then go from there. You're all over the map on the size, which leads me to believe that you'll buy the largest machine you can afford. Typically, I'd say that's a good place to start. Buy the largest machine you can fit into your jobs and can safely transport.

the s300 is a g series and priced okay for what you are getting. The s250 is a k series. There are a few differences mainly the oil bath chaincase, hydraulic fan vs belt fan, and a few other changes. K series has a slightly better radiator and is a little more quiet.
For what it's worth, I've owned 3 s300's and an s250 and an 773g. I hated the 773g after using large frame loaders. The s300's are great. Had 1 G series and 2 K series. One K series had issues the G was awesome and the other K was great as well. the s250 was great but I had the advanced hand control and I hated them.. Both s250 and S300 are very, very similar. You may not notice power difference. S300 is a little heavier with belly weights.
