View Full Version : Pricing Help?!?!

I'm fairly new to this and I have a couple of quotes that I would like some input on:
1. 1.5 acre lot fairly flat few obsticles
If just mow, eat, edge, blow I'm thinking $60-$65
If heavy bush trimming weeding ect are involved how much extra should I
charge? I was thinking if mowing is avg. $240/mo (60x4) then bush trim
is $60 more. I usually charge $30/hr for general labor. Does this sound
2. 14 acre church property
Mow, blow, eat, edge...lots of each! This property will probably take 4-6hrs i would guess. My thoughts on pricing are between $750-$1000 per month. At 6 hrs 750 works out to about $31/hr and 1000 is $42/hr. Thoughts?

I am a solo, but this is what I would charge 60 first acre 30 additional.
The 1.5 acre i would charge either 75 per cut or 225 monthly year round. That's my 2 cents, Good Luck

Thanks! I just got back from the site, he wants a proposal (I guess to compare with others), but there is ALOT of bush trimming. The trimming on the bushes around the house would be done monthly and there is a long row of viburnum all along the fence line in the back that would be done 2x a year. Also there is going to be ALOT of edging (around all of the beds, drive, road). I think I'm going to break it down like this: $60/week to mow & blow, $60 a month for the hedge trimming. This would equal $300/month avg. I'm working on the viburnum hedge, it will probably take me 3-4 hrs to do it, so $30/hr x 4hrs + $30 haul & disposal fee = $150 x 2 times a year = $300. Sorry for being so long, I was figuring it as i typed.

You're pretty close to a "bull's eye" on the 1.5 acre property. I might charge $75, but without seeing it I would say you're bid on that is pretty acurate. On your additional trimming, edging, and clean up, figure $1.00 a minute extra.
On the 14 acre church property I would probably charge $250 to $275 per visit if they let me do it every week. I don't know what kind of machine you're running, but that will have alot to do with it. I'm going to say it's a half day job (would be for my setup).

Disregard what I said about the $1.00 a minute for extra trimming. I misread your post.

Thanks! from what I have seen that range seemed reasonable. Hopefully he likes my bid.
As for the church, I run a 60" Dixie Chopper and was planning on spending at least a half a day there, I meet with them tomorrow and I'm pretty sure they are going to want a proposal too. Unless there is alot more/less than I thought, I think I am going to go $250/week/visit.

Go $240, just in case another bidder puts $250. With a 60" Dixie Chopper you will be fine on that one. You should be able to have the mowing done in 2 hours of solid straight mowing, maybe 2 hours and 20 minutes. Surely it won't take you any longer than an hour and a half to do the hand held work. With that machine, you'll be fine.

Good to know! Thanks for your help, I'll probably post more info after tomorrow.

I use 25.00 starting fee then add 1.00 per 1,000 sq. ft. of property to be mowed...I think your price of 30.00 is too cheap. I usually get 50-60.00 per hour
