Which is better a tornsion axle or a spring axle and why? I am looking to buy an enclosed trailer approx 7-16 in the future. there is a substancial difference in price of the two. Which will hold up longer over time? Better ride? Servicability? Etc. Etc.

Thanks

torsion Axel's have a nice ride when they have a little bit of weight on them .but kind of a two fold sword they only have as much capacity as they are built with .so make sure it is heavy enough the first time .you can put to much on it and ruin it ,but you can always go with heaver leaf springs later ,providing the Axel tube is heavy enough .and they are cheaper than torsion Axel's ,it's easer to build them up .:weightlifter:

I have nvr pulled a torsion axle trailer, but I hear they ride nice. Most torsion trailers are noisy that I see going down the but so is my leaf sprung enclosed.

i have never seen a noisy torsion Axel ,they are mounted in rubber .mine is smooth down the road .it is a Dexter ,they act independently ,side to side .they don't transmite as much vibration as a conventional spring Axel .

Well down here the harsh UV from the sun kills the rubber and causes it to make tons of noise.

you do in fact have some hot sun .been there done that ,but the rubber is fully encapsulated buy the cross tube .the only way it gets damaged is buy over loading and bruising the rubber, then it looses it,s ride height .but then when you over load a sprung Axel it shatters and breaks or bends .:waving:
