I was driving by one of our local John Deer dealers. He had one of the new 764's parked with out the blade right out front. I was really surprised by two things. It over all massive size, and the amount of ground clearance it seemed to have. I just got a quick look at it as I drove by at 45 mph but it looked to me to be overall bigger then the Case Quad Track?

There not really similiar machines, other than 4 tracks.

The High Speed Dozer, another one of Deere's R&D mistakes.

Just like their skid steers. BURN!

As long as no one says a HSD can't work in rock i'll be happy. Its the epitome of stating the obvious; neither can an mtl.

It has it's purpose, one being that it can doze material when a grader can't, but for the price tag, you might as well buy a D6K and do some real work and hire someone with a truck and trailer combo to move it for you.

Yeah, I don't get why they built it.

I have read everything published on this machine that I could find. I understand why they built it although its for sure a niche machine. What floors me is the price. Price that thing at 125K and maybe they would sell. Price them at just south of 400K?. Good luck with that one.

400k??!!!
You could get a Cat or Deere Dozer or Motor Grader for that price!

I run a wheel dozer at work here and there. The HSD would be a good replacement to that machine, 6 way blade not totally necessary, though, but I could see how it would be nice from time to time. The best advantage would be the tracks, wheel dozers if not running on the firmest of soil conditions just don't score the best traction for obvious reasons.
