Started off the day with a service call from a property manager. It's a large new construction commercial complex. I arrived to find this controller:
http://hunterindustries.com/Products/Controllers/idsintro.html

It gave an ERR message. However, I was able to reset it by disconnecting the power. I have never seen this type of controller and have only seen two wire a few times. Has anyone had experience with Hunter IDS. For some reason it has been discontinued.

Thats funny, Les. I just looked at a prop yesterday that we are bidding on that has these pedestals. Dont know if its two wire or not, but first time seeing one of Hunters pedestals in the field. Not really thrilled about it.

I think the IDS was a result of Hunter's ill-fated purchase of the Buckner golf control products. That's the Buckner Viking controller from about 1985 with a Hunter nameplate on the keypad. It was discontinued several years ago.

Thanks for the info. This site is only about 2 years old, I don't know who put this controller in or how they got their hands on it if it was discontinued some time ago.

I have way too much experience with the IDS. I have five on a large commercial property and they are a handful, especially if the wire connection to the decoders is not correct. You need to use DB connectors or you will have major problems. Normally, any faults showing on the panel can be cleared by pressing the "clear" button. If that doesn't work, turn it off and back on, it's kinda like Windows 98. Also, just remember, the line is always "hot". Voltage pulses the two wire path from about 2V to 45V. It'll wake you up, especially if you have wet hands.
