question1

Hi everyone
I need help picking a mower for my half-acre property (all grass other than house & pool). I'm currently mowing with a 22" Toro Recycler, but I'm wondering whether to get something slightly bigger. Here are my constraints:
1. Must get through 33" backyard gate.
2. Cannot be a riding mower.
3. Hopefully can be used by my wife occasionally.
4. Must be low maintenance.
Looking forward to your thoughts. You won't hurt my feeling if you tell me to stick with a small mower like I've got now. Thanks.

considering your limited to 33" your choices are few. Maybe a Quick 32?

Quick 32 would be my suggestion as well. while i have not tried one i have read many great reviews and they are priced pretty good too

a new gate maybe but the only thing I can think of is a nice self propelled 21 mower like a honda or a 32-36 inch walkbehind. However a walkbehind can be expensive and hard to handle by a inexperience person and also dangerous for them. Example mistakes made with a pushmower are not that bad but a walkbehind hit something and you can slam into the handle bars. also what ever you hit will take a beating as well. not trying to turn you away from them. I love them but they are not like a push mower.

How much are you willing to spend? Try looking into a Wright Stander if you are willing to spend more than the junk at box stores. (http://www.wrightmfg.com). They make a small 32" one that is really fun to use!

Been using a 28" World Lawn for 3 seasons now, no issues just perform regular maintenance and its been great to me. I do about a 3/4's of an acre, 75% of which is a decent sloped side hill.

Comes in 33" also....
I have been using the Cub Cadet 33" walk behind mower (http://www.cubcadet.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_10051_14101_162710_33830_-1_600000_33831) for the past 2+ years without any problems on a 3/4 acre lot. My brother has the same mower and same great results. Picked it up at a Cub Cadet dealer towards the end of the season for $1100 out the door including delivery. This was when the Depot was selling the same mower for $1299 before taxes and without delivery. Only thing, I wish it also offerd a recoil start with the electric and not electric only.

Are you bagging or mulching your grass?
If bagging, you will definately want to check this out...

I know this post is a little late after everyone elses, just stumbled upon this while i was bored watching tv. I would suggest a seutech Stealth 33.

I will jump in late also... Half acre with a pool, assume pool deck and a house, Sounds like the perfect lot for your 21" recycler.

If it were me, I would make the gate bigger, to fit the mower I want. or stick with the 22".

with a little experience you could "wiggle" a 36'' walk behind through your gate
my buddy had a scag that he could do that with its a little tricky but not impossible and its worth the time you save... also as mentioned just get a bigger gate (easiest)
