Does anyone know how to change the hydro oil on a Wright Stander? The manual that came with mine doesn't explain how to do it ;I searched lawn site for a thread on it but found none. I changed the filter at 160 hours ,but now the fluid smells burnt and according to the info on the filter that means it's time to change the hydro oil.I don't see any drain plugs,do you disconnect the lines that go to the filter? Thanks in advance for any info.

There is no way to really change the hydro fluid. Mainly change the filter and keep the level full.

To actually change the fluid you would need to probably remove the pumps, motors and hoses and get all the fluid out of them. Drain the tank and other misc lines.

Otherwise you are just gonna replace whats in the tank...and not whats down in the high pressure hoses, pumps and motors.

:)Thanks Pugs, I guess thats what they mean.To take everything apart would risk getting dirt in the system and that would be worse than not getting every ounce of fluid out.Since i'm not opening the lines I guess I don't have air in the system that has to be purged by jacking the rear wheels and running the pumps?

If you change the filter you should do the purge air procedure...or if you drain the tank. All of that is on the low pressure side but can still let air get down to the charge pumps and then into the high pressure side.
