We purchased an M-1 this spring to try something different besides Toro. My first impressions were good judging by looks. I noticed right away that it has an extremely long handle and it's very heavy.
The crews were excited to try it but after a few weeks the guys said that it is the last mower to ever come out of the trailer, I couldn't't understand why.
I finally got a chance to use it for a day when I filled in for an injured employee, now I know why they don't like to use it. Anyway here are my thoughts on the M-1:
Cons-
Long handle- very hard to maneuver in tight spots:confused:
Awkward controls not user friendly:dizzy:
Slow compared to Toro:sleeping:
Heavy as stated before:weightlifter:
Pros-
Cut quality is very good
Honda engine is nice & quiet
Large Bag
Overall I am disappointed it the M-1, like I said the guys don't use it unless they have to. It is awkward to operate and is too slow. We have already had to have the tranny replaced under warranty and that's with minimal use.
As of right now I would not recommend it to anyone, hopefully Hustler makes some adjustments to make it more user friendly. Until then I will definitely not buy another one.
