I'm doing a Residential job and I want a recommendation for some Anti-Siphon valves that I will be installing. Who makes the best anti-siphon valve and why? I've been looking at the Rain Bird ASVF series.

No Lawn Genie por favor. :clapping:

Thanks

Don't laugh at Lawn Genie, since it is the Irritrol ASV without a manual-operation lever, and you will not do better than Irritrol, for a valve that gets the job done and gets you paid.

Why with the ASV's?

I would buy RB's, but only out of brand loyalty, not experience with their ASV's.

Because the area where the valves are to be located, is very tight and I really can't fit a RPD or a PVB in there. Customer doesn't want valve boxes, would rather plant shrubs around the anti-siphon valves. In my area, which is southern California, anti-siphons are common practice.

Fair enough. Irritrol would be fail-safe.

Irritrol 2711 APR or 2713 APR.

True, the APR has a better flow control than the jartop.

Note to repairmen - the new-design "pin-type" Irritrol valves (2500, 2700APR) have a different diaphragm assembly than the classic 2400 jartop

ASV's are a CA thing.

Most common professionally installed by a C-27 contractor in California

Hunter, Irritrol, RainBird. Just depends what vendor they use.

At least in the valley up in my neck of the woods, Hunter.

If you don't want to screw around going to a regular irrigation house, get a Lawn Genie from any of the big box stores or Orchard.

LG's do have a flow control but is a pia to use. Just stay away from the likes of LawnJet and Orbit.

There is a Lawn Genie version of the 2700APR valves now, and they have the good flow control.
