About two weeks ago I noticed my neighbor hung bags that are supposed to attract and kill Japanese Beetles. My thought is that the not all the beetles attracted by these bags are killed, creating a increase in the population?

I have noticed many beetles around the gutter pop up drains in my yard after two large rains this week. I can only consider two options on how this occurred, form the yard or from the gutter. The large amount of beetles leads me to believe they were washed up from the drain. I do not understand what the beetles would be doing on my roof or in the gutter drain system?
If they are coming from the yard how can I treat the yard to get rid of them. One side not I only have one tree in my yard,a maple in the parkway. We do not have any landscaping bushes around the home either. Landscaping has not been a priority, we built the home in 2006.

They've been a nightmare here. Once they beetles get in the bags they die...eventually. You will notice if you look in them that they are all wiggling around. ...pretty gross if you ask me.

I lived in Naperville. Those little buggers destroyed my roses! They can eat a bud in less than a day. On top of that, very few pesticides kill them! They are very tough!

The bags/traps actually do work. It surprised the hell out of me. They die from lack of food as there is no pesticides in the bag. They are attracted to the smell. In a day, you can collect up to 100 or more beetle in one bag. They are everywhere!

Try the bags is you have a concern with them eating some of your plants. Other than that, they do no real harm. I'm sure glad they don't live down here. I was sick of fighting them by the time we moved.

If you don't mind the large turds, get some ducks, geese or chickens to keep the beetle population in check.

The bags work, but they attract MORE beetles than you had in the first place...
