Nothing wrong with that. It's a competitive business out there. Don't think just cause we're young we don't work hard. I know you older guys support your families and well I'm getting money for school and my future.

I don't believe he meant he was leaving the biz. I think it meant he was leaving the forum? I could be wrong though.

That's the way I read it, and can understand why.

Good Luck to ya.

I know it can be frustrating to lose customers to the young ones. I know most are working very hard but they don't understand basic elements of business and thier prices are to low and hurt the bussiness.

We pulled up to a project today with our crew and two trucks (2 acre estate) and the guy comented on our epuipment (over $100.000) I guess it take more than a craftman mower to work these days. Plus insurance, workmans comp and payroll.

There is more to the business than throwing dads mower into his pickup and pulling the electric cord to the weedeater.

Could Someone tell me why it Friggin Matters How Old you are?

I guess your all mad because Kids are taking your business away,Well if thats true then your really doing something wrong i guess seeing Little Timmy down the street get the Grave Yard gig that pulls in 13k a year really Pi$$es you off knowing that he only has a Murry 21" Pusmower and a "Weed Eater" Bent shaft that his dad gave him and you just spent a buttload of money on acouple new Super Z's and some SCAG walkbehinds well maby i see why your mad but get over it.God if Whining like Baby's made people rich then you guys wouldnt have to gut grass to pay the bills.

I see you Pro's looking at me doing Some Jobs and you guys look at me like i dont belong just because your Hauling 2 Dixie Choppers and Afew Walkbehinds and you look at me like im Killing your Dog,God if you only knew the looks i get cutting the Dentist office next door you would freak out.you pros Pass by the house every day and i guess you dont think i can do jobs with only a JD Garden Tractor...If im taking Buisness away from the"Local pros" then so be it and more power to me but i have to be doing something better than you guys to keep cutting the same lawns year after year and they dont complain.Maby its because you guys charge too much,I mean for god sakes you guys charge for Edging that takes only acouple seconds to finish,No wonder you are losing buisness to some Kids...Life is Life and get over it.God...

bobbygedd
04-26-2002, 02:20 PM
charge for edging? u r damn right, those blades arent that expensive, but they are not free!and niether is the fuel that runs the machine, and the machine wasnt free either(im not using daddys j d and edger). o, and when the edger kicks up a rock and breaks a windshield, the insurance is not free either. so, when u cut the dentist office for $5 and a lollypiop(sugar free), and the johnny d breaks down, see if the local repair man will accept lollypops and baseball cards as payment.

Dude,All my Equip is Paid for already and i have Plenty of money to get ANYTHING repaired,It took appx 5 Big Jobs to Pay for the JD and 1hr to Pay off the 230xb so maby your just not working hard enough because if it takes me almost no time to pay for my Equip and it takes you so long that 3yrs down the line your prices are still High so you can Pay for your Edger then you need to get a better job,Plus im sure not going to get Insurance because i make them sign a Waver that states I dont have to pay anything if any car or Window gets damaged and so far i have not had to pay for anything after 2 broken windows and a dented BMW plus i do the jobs so cheap that i would have to Kill someone for them to Fire me.

Everything i have bought i have done so with Cash like my Sp500h.o. was 6400 Cash and the JD was 3400 Cash and the Trimmer was cash and i dont know where your getting gas but i get 5gal once every 3 1/2 weeks and so thats appx $6.10 in gas each month and i just took up 2 High dollar Jobs in which i have Signed a 5yr contract with and ill be clearing with all my Jobs appx 41,000 a year and i do alot of little things also that get me alot of extra money to play with.

So next time you mind (Or lack thereof) sends signals to your Fingers and makes you type something as stupid as your reply to my last post just try to see if you can clear 41,000 a year with one man and a 3400$$ riding mower if you do that then we can talk.Plus its all profit...........Can you say that????  Some people.

hey ummmm, beaver cleaver. let me put it this way, think about all the money u will make in your entire life, from now till your 70, double it, and listen to me: I MADE THAT MUCH BY THE TIME MY 30TH BIRTHDAY ROLLED AROUND! u r the weakest link......goodbye

tom b, i was just wanting to know what happens if you bust out joe blows car driving down the street and he hit a telephone pole and sues you, are you going to make him sign a wavier too. I was just wanting to know that.

And another question, do you pay uncle sam his part of that 41k profit a year?

Makes you wonder sometimes why they call this the "Commercial Lawn Care" forum.

Yep, another gov't school teenager know it all. Yep, paid cash that means revenue received is pure profit. Makes you wonder how all those CPA's stay in business. I wish I would have thought of just getting waivers from everyone instead of following my states laws on insurance requirements.

Tommy, could you post us your waiver so we can all share in your knowledge and wisdom and save thousands?

Where's that number for the IRS criminal investigation division?

I'm just tring to figure out how anyone can make $3416.66 a month mowing with 5 gal of gas? and thats if he mowed year round and from reading where he's from odviously now.

How the heck can anyone make $41,000 a year using under 200 gallons of gas a year, pricing the jobs so much lower then the rest of us unless he's using Eletric mowers he's not telling us about.

5 gal of gas every 3 weeks? HAHAHAHA Please lemme know how you get such great gas milage on a JD riding mower?

I burn up to 10 gal of gas a DAY, Not including gas for my truck.

No offence but your dentist is a complete and total moron to let the neighborhood kid mow the lawn and pay for his mistakes. Heck, go shoot a rock into someones skull then see if the dentist pays for it... Bet ya not & bet you be making $7hr at Mcdonalds and paying for the rest of you life the multi million doallar settelment the person won against you.
Of cource thats in quite a few years when ya get out of jail, for having no insurance in the first place, not haveing a DBA, not having proper licences and permits, not paying sales tax.

Heck I know this business that got audited by the IRS and was claming the lawncare as a write off... Well trurns arround this kid mowing the lawn never payed sales tax to the state...
The kid got placed in a home, parrents got a multi thousand dollar fine.
The business was forced to claim the kid as an employee and pay all the back taxes, workers comp, SS, FICA, etc... on top of all the charges and fines.

I hope you have “explained” the basic foundations to a “LEGAL Waiver’

First off signing ones forfeits the right to sue …the home owner can not sue you ….gee you kill there dog n they get to take a hike …further more most legal waivers must state

General Release …states the homeowner or property owner is responsible for your activities no matter whom is at fault

Assumption of Risk ….. states the homeowner or property owner is responsible for your injury, illness, property damage or death ….if you get killed on there property they get to pay for your funeral

Medical Release states the homeowner or property owner is responsible to pay for any injuries, illness due to work ….they get to pay any hospital visits you have due to working on the job….you break your arm they get to pay for the hospital visit

Health Insurance ….most legal waiver require you have your own health insurance …not your dads …but that you have if for yourself ….you know signed a contract

They need to sign this n have is notarized ….

Oh ya don’t forget …. Waivers and releases cannot be signed by minors. Activity participants under 18 must have a waiver signed by a parent or legal guardian. …if under 18 your dad needs to sign your side of the waiver

Don't get me wrong I was cutting grass when I was 15 also ...just not making 41k ... it was pocket $

"Well like i said its all profit,I save everything i make.I have Made appx $27,000 in 3 years working for people and im only 19yo and that includes the Grass cutting,I could pay for pretty much any repair or even the replacment of the whole mower but i also have 2 jobs and i save almost 80% of the money i make at them so everything is coverd over here...That is as far as money goes plus i just bought a Polaris SP500H.O. to play with and still have the 27,000 in savings.

I just love to work,Ill be able to get a Super Z next month with just the Money i make Doing jobs for people on the side. "

I'm sorry you WILL be making $41,000 a year... Forgot that in that post you said you only make arround $9,000 a year. So that means you only make $50 per gallon of gas not $205...

Admiting you do "side" or Illeagal jobs is not a good thing arround here....

I think the original point that tlcservices was trying to make was that he has become tired of 15 year olds giving out advice and talking about their "businesses" like they have been in business for years and years. Just because you have a lawnmower and cut a few lawns doesn't make you an expert or a professional.

Man what can i say?

First off i have 1 Job right now and thats part of the 41k,The grass only takes appx 5hrs a week,I have 2 new large grave yard Gigs...One pays 950.00 a week and the other is 1020.00 a week thats $47,280 and i guess i added it up wrong when i said 41,000.Thats before the appx 4800 a year i pull now with yes around 5 gal a month.I will however have to use more gas in my New Super Z that im picking up next week so i have a better mower for the Grave yards.I have more money than you will ever have your hands on and your all just acting like Kids.

Heres the thing,This is for Fun and to me its a game. All you old guys that make this out to be some life and death thing are just stupid...How many posts have you guys started Whining about Old people telling you what to do and that your doing nothing right and you come back here to tell everyong just what happend today....O how Wonderfull i cant wait to read.YOU CHARGE TOO MUCH SO YOU LOSE JOBS TO KIDS PLAIN AND SIMPLE.You probably whine to the customers so much about Dog **** in the yard that they get fed up with you all.your grown men acting like children but the childern are acting like grown men.its just sad.

I have enough Money that i would never have to work again. You can see my House from the street about 5mi away.Theres a QuickTrip in Edwardsville illinois you turn there and you cant miss it...It has Blue gates and 2 man built lakes in the front yard o and a mulit car Storage center.I dont have to worry about insurance because im doing so well as far as money goes and if i hit someone then so be it ill just pay its no big deal....Maby it is to you guys considering you are losing jobs to 9yo Girls that use hedge trimmers to gut the grass strighter than you ever will plus they dont whine they suck it up and take it like men and thats more than you Girls can say.

This forum used to be nice and full of cool guys but now you just Moan too much....Get a life and stop worrying about things so much....Take it like men and the idea you would think i would even considering giving my money to the insurance company makes you sound Dumber than ever,Think about it if you made as much money as you say you do and you cut grass as good as you say you do then you wont even ever need any insurance anyway yea things do happen but you just pay,Money is no big thing heck to pay for my 230 i just had to stick my hand in my sofa and there it was enough green to buy 3-4 t-260's.

Like i said get a friggin life and stop ya Whining it makes you sound like women.

Hey Bobby,You have nothing. To me your like a Bum on the street or a Fat chick in a trailer court called the "Wheel Ranch" i have way more money than you and thats the end,If so tell me what your life savings is and ill tell you how much My parents have which i get when they Die which and that wont be long by the sound of things...I have a Buttler and my guess is that you dont.Poor guy i really feel for ya......NOW You are the Weakest link Goodfrigginbye.

P.S. I PAY TAXEX TOO,so dont worry about that.

I never said i did Illeagal Jobs....I mean that i did things like take out the trash and do some clearing.

Your right about the gas,I make about 50.00 an hour when i work and i may be off about the total of gas i use but by no more than 1-2 gal

I could have swore i just said i do it for fun and to me its a game,Heck i even quit one of my jobs to do the Grave Yard's.

I LIKE TO MOW GRASS,I stay out of trouble by doing so.I could live on my allowance ONLY which is over 500 a month not i know its Not much but its good to help me learn that not everything's free and only getting 500 a month is a good lesson.I think.

Im 19 and 3 years only got me 27,000 in the bank but now im set making over 47k a year for 5 years plus Other work and my Job.Life is good to me and im fine with it.

You just proved my point. Anybody that gets $500 a month in allowance is a moma's boy. I'm sure with all that money you will never understand what it is like to stuggle through life. Well, I think that is sad because you never learn to appreciate other people and nothing ever is special to you because you never have to struggle to earn something. Especially a little respect! We all know that you are not getting to far in that category!
