I picked up a 1999 Scag STT61-22KA with 1200 hours. The engine is the FD661 water cooled Kawasaki, and it needs some work (top end overhaul), which I am not opposed to doing. However, I have also stumbled across a Kawasaki FD750 27 HP that I am considering buying to repower (up-power) this mower. Everything from the specs look good--crankshaft size, width, etc. However, Small Engine Warehouse states that this engine is too "deep" to replace a 20 or 22 hp.
Has anyone made this swap to be able to verify one way or the other? I wouldn't mind having a few more ponies under the hood, but I won't even bother if this will be difficult or impossible.
