Hi Everyone,
Great site to have here. I have a couple of questions about my lawn and was hoping someone here could point me in the right direction or provide some answers. I had my new yard seeded the first week in July. (I know worst time to plant grass.)

My landscaper planted a Bluegrass/Fescue/Perennial Rye blend. Since planting, I have been running my lawn sprinklers nightly (3 cycles @ 20 minutes each) and once during the afternoon, on the really hot days. I have a Rain bird sprinkler system with 5000+ heads; each head has a 1.5 nozzle. I (believe) the sprinklers are putting down enough water.

I am located in South-Eastern South Dakota. My soil consists of a mixture of sand and clay. My landscaper did not put down any starter fertilizer, when the seed was planted. The first week of August, I put down Milorganite fertilizer, applied at a rate of 50 lbs./3,000 sq. ft. I also had a local lawn service apply liquid fertilizer at the same time.

Since then, I have seen tremendous improvement in the grass. However the grass is not growing very tall. Currently the grass is only about 1” tall. Should I be looking at putting down more fertilizer..? Maybe a 13-13-13 mix..? Or would it help to cut back on my watering..? Any help someone can provide would be greatly appreciated...

Sorry for the long post. I just wanted to give a detailed list of what has been done so far.

Thanks in advance, Matt
