View Full Version : Pics of Inside 24' Enclosed

I finished up my enclosed trailer this week and I got to really use it all day today. The pics aren't very good, but I couldn't drop the gate for the pics this time. I will get some better ones after I get the graphics done.
The floors and 6" up the walls are Herculined. It took me almost 3 gallons for two coats on the floor and three on the ramp. It seems pretty nice for $225. I was qouted $1800 for Rhino:hammerhead: They told me it wouldn't fit in their booth anyways.
I lined the walls two foot up with 1/2" plywood if you can see it. I painted it and added trim to make it look fancy. The shelving is the heavy duty Gorilla stuff. It's bolted through the floors with GR 8 3/8 bolts. You may be able to see the Etrack, it is 15' down each wall and 10' on the floor. This will be used for securing random things since I have the Fast Straps for the mowers. I can fit two 60" ZTRs, 34" ZTR, 200 gallon skid, and everything else needed for maintenance including the giant extension ladder and 12' folding ladder.
If you have questions just ask. I figured these pics may help some guys setting up. They sure would have helped me.

Today was the first day pulling it fully loaded and I didn't have any hills to contend with today, but it really does not struggle at all. The truck has Firestone Ride Rites, 10 Ply tires and a Prodigy P3 which is a sweet brake controller. The easy adjust boost feature is nice.

good job. you put some major effort into that rig and got it setup nicely.
any exterior lettering going on that?
Looks great - love the finished look on the inside of trailer (way better than mine - plywood and 2x4's)
I bet that rig is fun to drive through small neighborhoods. . .

What exhaust system do you have? Also, you can buy a TRD supercharger for that 5.7; 505 hp & 550 ft lbs. I'm not sure if my wife will let me spent the $6K for it though.

Thanks, it was quite a bit of work. More work than it looks like. Yes it will be getting lettered, but it may have to wait until things slow down a bit.

I have to watch out for trees in the neighborhoods around here. It already has a long surface scratch down the side from an unavoidable tree yesterday. I will take another route next time through that hood. It does turn around pretty easily on an open court, but the tires are going to get shredded to hell quickly:cry:

I know all about the supercharger. It is very expensive from the start and you have to run 93 octane fuel all the time though!

Good job :clapping: I would suggest getting those ladders up top on a roof rack. I used to have the same wall hangers and did away with them. I needed the wall space and they stick out quite a bit.
I have 16' ers myself. I also built a rack/cabinet on the tongue and put a 15-G nurse tank from northern on it, 99 bucks and comes with the nozzle and about 4" of hose. In the space below we keep our 2 cycle fuel container, in fact any engine fluids are kept up there, oil, grease gun, brake /carb cleaner, 2-cycle oil.
Congratulations just don't  too much when you get that first tree branch scratch down the side. If you have not already get a very good coat of wax on that trailer ASAP!!! they are impossible to clean if you don't keep them waxed. The last trailer I bought the first thing I did was wax it before I did anything else

Ha, check out my post above, I said I already had a tree jump out at me on the first day and make a nice scratch:cry: It was one of those friggin courts that have an island in the middle with overgrown trees. The e-track is for things other than mowers that I may have to haul. I have Fast Straps for the mower since they're faster than ratchets.
I may get some updated pics in the spring.

I know this is an old thread, I'm gonna reply anyway since it came up.
THAT IS FRICKING AWESOME! I like the locking cabinets for chemicals. That looks like it would be the perfect setup for a full service solo or 2-3 man crew, you could do everything in 1 stop with 1 rig. That being said that is a LOT of weight to drag around every day. I personally would run 2 16's, 1 for mowing 1 for apps. At least that's what I'm sorta working towards one day.

I was to cheap to pay for the onboard compressors and I like to keep things simple if possible. I just ran the air lines back to the rear bumper and add air as needed.

Sounds like a good, easy idea. How does it affect ride quality?
GravelyGuy
01-26-2012, 09:55 PM
I just installed them on both trucks a few weeks back so I dont have many miles on them, but I had them on my Toyota before. I tried using Timbrens on the 09 Ford and that was a mistake IMO. They are way to bouncy and really are not adequate for the heavy stuff.
For the bags, if you keep them under 10 pounds when traveling empty they don't hurt the ride, I actually like the way they stiffen things up. Once you get over 10 pounds they are pretty bone jarring when empty.
You may notice I also dumped the Ford OEM Rancho shocks. They were junk at 14K miles when I took them off. I have Bilsteins now, way better.

Well considering I have a Toyota plant 5 minutes from my house I would call it pretty american.
I can tell you that my Fords say "Made In Mexico" all over them. Either way, it really makes no difference because I'll buy whatever works best for me.

They are the 5100 series. Probably the best $300 you could spend. The Rancho shocks, which I think are just Ford OEM painted red had zero rebound when I took them off. They would not even rebound on their own when compressed. Shame on Ford for using them and shame on Rancho for putting their name on them.
I want to add the Bilstein steering stabilizer and I think it will improve the way the truck wants to wonder around on the highway. Truck will be perfect then.

I also have a 24 enclosed. Take my advice. Get a spare tire mounted on a rim, these trailers EAT tires. Mine has torsion axles (they move in and out when turning) and the insides of the tires are prone to wear. Also, get yourself a 5 ton floor jack. Get a flat on the trailer and its an easy fix. Dont learn the hard way. My 5 ton floor jack from harbor freight has saved me so much time and money.

Yeah you aren't kidding there. I have a spare tire and rim and a 12 ton bottle jack. I also learned the hard way that they are too heavy for a 3 ton floor jack to handle.
I go through at least 2 sets of rear tires per year. They run about 110 a piece for the load range D.

Try rotating the tires every so often. That helps us get em to last longer. For me, its not the 100$ it costs to get the tire, its the PITA driving to the shop with the rim, waiting etc etc. Im thinking about getting 1 more spare.
Also food for thought. You ALMOST have a shop rolling on wheels. We built a box on the tongue of the trailer and put a generator/compressor from harbor freight in it. I drilled a hole into the trailer and I have 100Ft of hose on a reel. Flat tires on a machine/truck/trailer are a joke. Jack er up, fire the compressor up, impact wrench gets lugs off and etc. Harbor freight is cheep cheep I got the compressor/gen for under $400. It has saved me much more than that in time itself.

lol, yes I have a 3 gallon compressor in mine also. I think my tires have magnets in them, I get so many flats! A generator would be nice. I normally just fill up the compressor at an outlet somewhere at a friendly customers house.

Havent been on the thread in a while. Big upgrades in trucks. I was just wondering how you like the air bags in your f250? i run a ez dumper in mine and it handles it fine but wouldnt mind having something that doesnt make the truck look so heavy when its loaded haha. I would do the same set up as yours with out the air compressor. Thanks
Tires are a pita on these trailers but worth it to have everything you need with you all the time...ours are set up with generator, air compressors, blade grinders, and even a microwave....carry everything to repair any sprinkler system, all pest control tools and products, fertilizers, numerous spare parts for machines , tools, supplies ect....even use the workbench up front as a small desk/office area for all my paperwork...pc and printer for invoices as well...at the end of the mowing day im done too...no paperwork during off hours....that is family time......nice trailers!!!

I definitly agree on the spare idea. The first week I had my 18' enclosed, I hit a pothole & blew out both tires on the passenger side of my trailer.

I talked about them a couple of pages back. I just installed them on the Fords so I've only done a little bit of towing. I had them on my Toyota and I like them a lot. Loaded up they ride better than the Timbrens that I had and support weight much better.
I tried the Timbrens because I've heard people say they're great and I figured they would be one less thing that holds air that I would have to worry about.
If you get Firestone air bags, be sure to pay attention when you cut the air tubing. The fittings/tubing supplied sucks. You have to be sure to make a perfect 90 degree cut to avoid leaks.

Ah ok sorry. I didnt pay attention to the dates on your posts. I was thinking of going with the firestones. How do they hold up? ive heard that they dont last long and they are very hard to keep even etc. I havent ruled out if im just going to have my truck sprung up or not either.
Thanks for letting me know about the Timbrens because i was going to try them also for the same reason as yours.

My other set never gave me any trouble. I took them off and sold them when I traded the truck in. Be sure that you let the air out of them if you plan to jack the truck up by the frame so you don't over extend them.
They leak slowly and evenly if you cut the tubing properly. I only had to add a little air every few weeks. If you want to keep the pressure even all the time, then just plumb the air lines together and fill from one point.
