Dethatching Fescue Yard?????

I was speaking with my neighbor last night about our yards, he too has fescue. He told me that he has a dethatcher if I ever want to borrow it.

I have some spots in my yard where either A) dog urine has killed the grass or b) Grubs have killed the grass or C) something I haven't thought us has killed it.

Does it help to dethatch fescue? I have done it to bermuda but never fescue.

If its a power rake then yes running that over the lawn prior to reseeding will help, but generally fescue does not get a thatch later.
