I've debating on buying a Dixie Chopper or a Hustler zero turn mower. Anybody have any feedback or suggestions on why to buy one versus the other. Any help greatly appreciated.

In my opinion its Hustler all the way !!!!
But I may be little biased........:D

You will find the Hustler to cut better and handle better than the competition do to its deck design and blade tip speed. The handling of this mower is second to none, its low center of gravity and wide tire stance make this unit handle awesome in all conditions and handles hills with ease, you will feel quite safe on it. You sit much lower to the ground compared to the Chopper.
If you are comparing apples to apples (hp, hydros, and deck sizes) then the Hustler will come out on top !!
Demo, demo, demo.......
Just look at the fit and finish, the Hustler is better built all the way around.
Let me know if you have any other questions

Test both mowers in heavy thick grass and that should answer your questions! I tested a super z against a flatlander I bought the flatlander.

super z all the way

Only Dixie Chopper has the Flex-Deck.

If you want a mower that performs and mows with the best and trims in more places that any, go Dixie with the Flex-Deck Trimming Attachment. If you want to just compare ZTR's and do not want the trimming attachment, test drive a lot of brands, there are a lot of good mowers out there.

Thanks, Brad

Test all of them, there are alot of good ones out there!
BUT, in my opinion, after you try a Hustler, you will throw rocks at all the rest!!

I have owned dixie's for years tried out a hustler super z last year but bought a bladerunner instead. However I do agree with rwleigh put the hustler in heavy grass and compare it to the chopper. Dixie is a simpler machine with less on it to go wrong! If you can demo all of them.

Put them in the grass and mow with them! I did and would have bought a dixie but I to demoed a bladerunner and bought it instead. Dixie would be my next choice! good luck and also check to see which dealer will take care of you!!

i'm just north of you in iowa.

i have a lazer z and thought it was the best.

i demoed a dixie xf2600-60 and a hustler super z was seriously confused of to which was the better machine.

today a guy from ft. madison stopped while i was doing a large cemetary (20+ acres) i have and asked me to demo a Blade Runner.

this machine is the best cutting and fastest machine i've ever been on over my 25+ years cutting.

if you get a chance, you should get in touch with him for a demo, when you get back on your dixie, you'll think you're on a crapsman.

he's on here, but i'm not sure of his handle, he has RPM Sales & Service in ft. madison, iowa.

in fact he's a dixie, walker and hustler dealer too!

but, in all honesty, you should check this machine out, i'll be trading my Lazer for it (if he'll take it, lol)

Having demoed many and run most, the hustler does it with the best ride, quality, and speed. having tested the dixie against the super, even the dixie 50 horse turbo, the hustler super z has the fasted ground speed for transport/load up, and i am certain with the seat and frame the most comfortable ride, which typically translates into faster mow times. the dixie does outperform on raw high cutting, and flat smooth production cutting in the 50 horse turbo. but for my weeklies, give me the mower withj the smoother cut, better ride, and the ability to turn up or down hills and a clean kaw design. I have not however tested the bladerunner. DAv eg

Hi everyone I am new to this web site! I heard about it from my ferris dealer. I have been reading this post here and have seen some of you mention the bladerunner mower. How do I get more info on it or find a way to demo one? Also is it really a faster cutting mower than the dixie? I thought dixie was the worlds fastest. Also how is the cut compared to a dixie or my ferris?

I have a 2000 Dixie xw2500,60" 25hp,and i demo'd the Hustler Super Z,there is no comparison on cut quality, the Hustler cuts so much better, especially in thick grass,it leaves no strips like the Dixie does.It is also much better built, and much more refined. The dixie is simple, and crude by comparison,it does work, but everything the Dixie can do the Super Z does better, and faster.

John you should see how great the bagging system works on the super z. I have to admit that speed was the primary reason I bought a z but I now reliaze that the cut is the best thing about this mower and the bagging system is unbelievable, I can bag entire yards without emptying it once.

ok eric,

i'm going to Mayberrys in memphis, mo. for some truck accessories thursday, i'll give you a call and bring one by.

i think you will be amazed at the excellent cut the Blade Runner has at a higher ground speed than anything you've ever run.

i will have a super z in a couple of weeks you can try it when i get it in also, it is very impressive too!

having all three of these brands in my corner, it's a hard decision even for myself, which is the best!

all these machines are exceptional, each has its own distinct quality....hmmmm i would suggest buying all three, and a Walker for fine grooming while bagging....lol

i'll bring an invoice....lol

Ok so who deals Bladerunners in the Green Bay Wisconsin area?

Eventually I will need a midmount and I am gonna try em all before I set 10K down for a mower.

They all sound good in text but its how they perform on MY lawns is what is gonna get my $$$. I have no probs with a dealer making money on a sale but I am gonna get the mower that best suits my type of mowing.

Hey John DImartino I have read some of the old post and I beleive you said you had to adjust your deck pitch on your chopper so that it was 3/8". If your deck pitch on a Dc is over 1/4" the cut will be rugged looking because less of the blade surface will be coming into contact with the grass. Never go over 1/4", but you can be slightly under.

thank you captndevo for giving me the info. I talked to alex and he is very knowledgeable. He is bringing a bladerunner and a dixie chopper for me to try out next thursday. I am meeting him at the dam at tablerock lake I am going to see just how good this thing really is, I have some steep banks to mow and some large flats to try it out. My ferris holds a hill really good but I am dissapointed at it's cut and it really just does not seem to be very fast.
