I am looking at dump trailers and trying to decide the best way to go. I really like the idea of a gooseneck but have never had or even pulled one before. My questions for all you GN owners, are they that much better than a bumper pull and why? How big would you reccommend, I have a 2005 F-350 with a flatbed, 4x4, 4.10 6spd manual, and it's a V-10. I want the biggest possible without overloading my truck. We do hardscaping and are hauling alot of gravel, sand, dirt etc.

A goose neck distributes its weight over a greater area than a bumper pull so you wont worry about too much tounge weight or excessive squatting associated with big bumper pull dump trailers.i myself have set my sights on a 14ft goose neck with 4 ft custom sides and havent a doubt in my mind that my 2500 hd 6.0 gas! can pull a heavy load with that setup. 14 ft gooseneck is my parting advice!with heavy duty axles of course 5500 lb or beefier:weightlifter:

GN is better hands down.
To many reasons to list but E.L.Co touched on them.
I would get a 16k trailer, it would be heavy but not to heavy like a 20k
Keep in mind you will need a CDL for any trailer over 13k (I presume your trucks GVW is 13k)

So a 14k 7x14 or 7x16 would be fine? I have a class A cdl so that isn't a problem just don't want to overload my truck. I've pulled just over 20K combined with a bumper pull dump without a problem. So a GN will handle that much and more and haul it better? Now I really want one, saw a dealer on Ebay in Texas that has a 7x14 14k GN dump for $6495. I don't have a GN hitch on my truck currently so what does that entail and how much will that run me? Thanks for all the help.

14k is a cake walk for that truck. I would go with the longer trailer as it will be easier to load correctly.
Hitch install is pretty easy, google for a B&W hitch.

Looking at Brimar's specs, it has the empty weight at 5600 (for the 14k 8x14). So can I only legally haul 8400 lbs? I've been doing almost that with a
6x10 10K.

Legally?
Some don't count the tongue weight. Just sayin.

I use a 4 yard trailer (7x14 I believe) and have pulled it full with no problem. My truck is rated at 10,000 lb. towing capacity, but I've been way over that with no problem. IIRC yours is rated at 16,000 lbs.

lol really? my first goosneck i picked up a month ago, 34' 14k double axle equipment trailer... goddam its like driving an 18 wheeler big rig in turns! have to swing everything wide, and soon as you turn sharp, that trailer almost STOPS while you turn then hauls a$$ again after you finished your wide turn... make sure you well past curbs, or youll hit every one lol
but they do work great for weight.

I was saying that cause they take alot to turn, but you can turn them sharper..
And my first time pulling a gooseneck, I was happy as hell and didnt realize they turned sharp and of course, the first turn was left towards traffic, dam, that lady about s#it herself when that big ass horse trailer about hopped her car instead of the curb..

A gooseneck is the way to go if you are carrying any decent amount of weight a bumper pull doesn't cut it.
For one you have the pin weight over the rear axle no see saw action like you get with a bumper pull. No worries about hitting a bump and the front tires leave the ground on the truck. You don't get the trailer sway as much with a gooseneck.
Keep in mind you don't want to overload the pin weight the truck may have a 5000lb payload but that doesn't mean you can have that much pin weight the rear axle will be overloaded. Plus that is alot of concentrated weight over the one area of the frame.
A question for Junior so you got booted out of the elite HEF you were not good enough for Steve

I probably wouldnt have gotten the boot if I wasnt talking trash about HEF on HEF.. See, I started a "max out the hits" thread there, well me and a certain member from here and also a member of HEF ended up talking trash about HEF and Williewonka1850 joined in and got in like 2 posts, both practically saying Hello and all 3 of us got kicked..
So, to steve and all his pussyfooted mod's, I am glad you banned me, that place was slower than an old folks home on a Tuesday. and more boring than watching sea turtles have sex (It had to be some what G rated, didnt wanna kicked from here too..)
