It has been a very odd spring and summer in the mid atlantic and north east, extreme heat in the northwest and drought in many places. The southeast is getting lots of rain and has not in a couple of years

Has the weather turned your program upside down?

What has worked and what has not. I am hearing with the places with a lot of rain that pre-m's basically washed away, lots of weeds. The organic guys loved it because the turf responded nicely and kept out the weeds

Any stories?

Perfect year here in Wisco. One highlighted problem in such a year is how quickly the over-irrigated lawns brown up if a sprinkler head stops working.

Still experimenting with the dog spots. This year we did a daily rinse for 7 -10 minutes per day. Marginal success, but noticable. No NPK for 3 seasons now, and I noticed that, with the daily rinse, the contrast of dark green to light green disappeared. I am afraid this could mean that too much activity at the surface means shallower roots.
I did cover one of the dogs' favorite bathroom section of lawn with uninocculated char, last week, so we'll see about that idea b4 the end of the season.

The green is nice, but the dollar spot and rust in July haven't been so good.

lawns are ok some fungal issues.....mostly thatch induced. I may have some bagged for a while.....

also some dollar weed on the irrigate lawns...

but the big issue is the foreclosure rate and unemployment.

on the bright side found a pile of compost, 10 acres that needs to be removed. its like a gold mine$$$$$$

also expansion into another larger county has some issues..

oh and the farm is a loss with the rains and new flood control water levels that have made good land a swamp. I may just let it go

Guess that is why the rent was so cheap.

Well it is rainy season down there, it seems Florida gets drought and fires or too much rain. Hopefully when the rainy season is over there will be some balance. Plant rice

You can not win. If you get alot of rain, you deal with fungis & shrooms. If it's dry, you deal with weeds and bugs. I just want to retire and let someone else deal with it.
