I went out to do a garage pad this week and would love a laser box blade but lets be honest on a 30x40 it really doesn't make sense, what would be a alternative way that would be fast and not cost so much to set up like the laser box blades? It wouldn't have to be machine controlled just better than to keep checking with the grade stick.

Stick the laser receiver on the inside of the cab near the front, I did that once, seems to work.

I usually just get and section to grade then can eye ball the rest within a 10th or two. lol... just get off the tractor.

I found a bracket once that bolts on your bucket to hold a receiver but can't remember where it was. I can get it close but would like to speed it up.

Yeah, that's the one. Thanks Jeff. I remember thinking why couldn't I make that but you would want to use a tougher receiver.

Even better. Have to print that out and do it. The hard part is picking the receiver, have any ideas?

I have a bobcat laser boxblade that I can take a beating on if you are interested - used it once and put it on the side - too small for my applications but a excellent tool for someone that needs it........

It is the Bob Cat brand model number GRBBL - description is Laser Box Blade..
It is complete - but you must supply your own transmitter, and receiver of course. I think I would be happy with around 2500. let me know what you think. Used it - I think twice in my driveway the paint isn't even worn from the cutting edge.

That doesn't sound too bad. How wide is it? I think on that other thread you said you're way down south, so shipping would bite some. I'll have to think about it, I have been planning other stuff and untill I get rid of my other hydroseeder I don't have to much play money.

This is the set up I use on the D4, main unit on the extendable mast with a smaller unit with magnetic mounts in the cab:

$2,500.00 is a good price but just a heads up, you will need more than a transmitter and reciever. You will also need a valve body and control box. It will cost anywhere between 9 to 12 grand to fully automate that bad boy.

Incorrect!! this is a plug and play laser box blade - plug in your receiver and she is ready to go - please check the specs...

Dang, $2,500 for a box blade with the valve body, good deal. If I needed one, I'd be all over that.

Sorry dude, didn't mean to get you all riled up. The spec link you posted doesn't say anything about a valve body and I didn't see a valve body in the pics.

Will it only work on a bobcat brand skid or CTL on the lazer.

Will it only work on a bobcat brand skid or CTL on the lazer.

The bobcat system uses the skid steers computer for control of the auxiliary hydraulics, so Bobcat only.

The optional laser kit is sold as an add-on to the regular box blade. It's a Trimble single grade system with laser transmitter, tripod. basically everything you need. I don't know if it is dealer installed or ordered from the factory as laser equipped.

I agree it has a 7 pin connector that connects to the Bobcat computer. Then goes to the valve. The valve is small located with the computer box next to it on the back of the skid mounting plate.

I have a Deere CTL with a 3 pin connector right now. Also have the same Bobcat grading box,There is a small computer looking box next to the valve with the 7 pin connecter going to the machine. Then there are wire going to the small valve.

The blade won't move setup this way even manually.Computer box won't let ax hydraulic pass through the valve with out the 7 pin connector working(connected to machine)

If you want to use manually you have to bypass the valve and connect the ax hoses right into the grade cylinder.

I have my own laser system,so my plan is to remove the computer looking box before the valve.Reroute the hydraulic hoses and wire the small hydraulic valve that came with the box for my laser system(control box).

CC was right in that you will need control box, transmitter(laser), and reciever, but that is more to do with the laser system you choice then the grade box.

Maybe this will help.Just haven't had time to get things done with my box,but this is my plan.

Biggest concern for me is getting it wired in and if the small valve will work(like i want it to).If not will change out the valve. It is a single grade valve,so if you wanted to make it dual grade you would need different valve anyway.Good luck:usflag:

I have no experience with laser systems, but have seen guys rewire bobcat attachments to run on other brands. If you just bypass the "black box" and run 12v signals directly to the control solenoids, you're in business.

I made a pig tail for my 297 and It worked fine - I also have a kit that bobcat sell specifically for this laser boxblade attachment it takes any 12 volt source and hydraulics and runs the laser box blade attachment - I will sell for an extra 500.0 the kit is brand new and never used- I believe I spent around 1000.00 for the kit - but I got the wiring diagram and made my pigtail instead - The laser box blade will work with any brand or version of bobcat style track or tire loader - with the above descibed kit........
