The bigger the better on the trailer. Just incase you end up doing some yard cleanups/light hauling...Stay with the V6 when you buy a pickup I would kill to have my little v6 5 speed F150 back.

I think you should actually look into an even bigger trailer like a 6x12, that will give you plenty of room to grow and still will pull very nicely. It is always nice to have extra space so you can grow, and so your trailer looks less cluttered and more organized. And once you upgrade your truck, go for the V8, you will be very happy you did. If you plan on growing your business and hauling larger trailers and more equipment, a V6 will not cut it. The V6's gas mileage may look good, but when you put a larger trailer on it, it will not pull it nicely and will struggle under heavier loads.

Get the biggest trailor you can afford and your vehicle can pull. I started out with a small one and went up in size three times and still sometimes it is not big enough.

I will 2nd this....get the 6x12...this trailer will carry you a long way and be able to carry right much equipment.... a 10 foot trailer cant get 2 full size mowers back to back on it.....

You'll actually save gas by not stressing the engine as much. My v6 and v4 only got 18, my v8 gets 16, not bad, but pulling it does much better.

I currently have a 4x8 due to someone stealing my previous trailer and mower...

anyway I got a DEAL on a 4x8 and I too am buying a different trailer for next season..I was leaning towards a 5x10 because I dont feel that my truck (2wd 1996 nissan) would pull a 6x12 trailer.

What do you guys think of my situation and a 6x12

I would like to be able to put two big mowers on it at times...a w/b and a mower, but it is not a must.

anyway sorry for the hijack

The reason I recomended a V6 was when pulling my boat to the lake, a 45 min drive, the v6 would get close to 18 mpg in 5th at 75 mph. Where as my newer King Ranch F-150 4x4 will barely clear 12 pulling the same 3500lb boat at 75. My little V6 lived the 5 years I had it with either a boat or a 14ft trailer loaded with Fourwheelers attached to it. Put over 100,000 on it overloaded and never maintained. Wish I stil had it. Thats all.

I would go with the 5*10 or even look at a 6*10 because then you will have room to expand the biz and not have to go out and buy a new trailer. Good luck

I just find that hard to believe. My v6 was 18 mpg and I had to fill up every 150-200 miles with my trailer and I wasn't pulling that much weight. The tank on my bigger truck is larger, obviously, but the price isn't as bad overall because I get more per tank. Then again my truck is 16 mpg on city and 18 on highway. When you add a bunch of features it decreases. My 4 banger got only 18 a gallon and it couldn't handle the weight and had to be filled up constantly. I spend so much on gas regardless due to the amount I drive.

I would go with a 6 1/2 x 12 it will be light to pull and should give you room to grow.

Go 6x12 Tandem axle, with 24" wire mesh sides. Plenty of room and can carry heavier loads such as mulch to stones with the 24" sides.
