Elaborate on full time plant health care. That sounds like a lot of fun to me. Difficult.

Irrigation is an aspect of full time plant health care.

Then that means I will see more of you on the pesticide and fertilizer forum. We are just as crazy over there. Fumes from PVC cement or weed killer are all the same.

Those fumes can affect you.....

things are crazy and work is slow..have to go where the money is.

Are they just going to shuffle you back and forth? Are you going to move back for fall blow outs? Which would you prefer?

my heart is in irrigation, but my future (seemingly) is in trees...

not a fan of the constant grind of tree work, love pest management (cause its new)

I suppose I just love to learn everything about something.....

Wet_Boots

Just keep on learning. I suppose this might remove any guilt aspect of doing side work with sprinklers.

I don't know what your local rules are, but you might consider backflow testing. For less money than a Rainmaster remote, you could get a test kit. That would probably not compete with your employer, and it would get you back together with sprinkler systems, and if there's an issue with the sprinklers, it just happens you know someone. :)

Not too sure about the cape area , but most of Mass dosnt require testing. In my work area ( Middlesex county Mass ) only 1 town tests and the town water dept does it.

Maybe a ground-floor opportunity, then, but not a path to riches, until testing becomes a requirement. I expect there are more online auction watchers nowadays, but there still might be a bargain to be snagged.

A local distributer that puts out a monthly newletter has classifieds in the back. There is almost always test kits listed there. As in , others had the same idea only to buy the equitment and find no market for it.

I think I got mine for cheap because every key word in the eBay auction was misspelled except sprinkler. A couple of testers are at a little over $200 right now, and a TK-9 is at $100-plus (http://cgi.ebay.com/Watts-TK-9A-Backflow-Tester-TK9A_W0QQitemZ160358885364QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item25562267f4&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14)

Is that why Boots posts here all day? He is waiting for a call to test a BF?

Wet_Boots

I think it's harder to find those online bargains, with too many watchers and automatic spellcheck these days. (try an ebay search for "spribkler")

As long as you don't walk into any banks with it and your tester under your coat... you might be ok.

Hell, the banks don't even want you with shades and a gimme cap

ehhhhh, ummmm.... Pardon me.... Sorry to bother you, but one more question. How long has it been since you had your backflow tested?
