Pennington question

hi guys... i put down some Pennington landscapers choice seed here in north jersey......the first 3k sq ft came in a dark green...i put down the same seed on another 3k sq ft section and its coming in "Kermit the frog green
".....the first section has been planted for about 2 months..the new section 2weeks ago....do you feel the color is due to it being very young grass? will it turn darker green as it matures?...used starter fert on both.ph-6.5

Two months ago the days were longer (longest day June 21) and the sun was in effect, farther North. More sun/more photosynthesis/more color. The sun has been moving back toward the South since June 21 and the days are shorter. I think that would explain your lighter color, given all else was equal.

Yeah thats gotta be a bunch of ryegrass. Good for feed with rabbits.

topsites, feel free to add your opinion. I may not be entirely right, but it seemed to make sense at the time. There could certainly be other factors.
