Hey guys - Im looking for a little better understanding about the anti-dieseling plunger, how it works and if Im causing any problems. Engine is a Kohler Mag 18, model M18QS, Spec 24696 in a Bobcat skid loader. I just replaced it the other day after it died. Was running it for about 2 hrs. This it the second time (first was maybe 4 years ago). If I understand correctly it is there to keep the engine from drawing in more fuel once you shut down, preventing backfires. If that is the case should a proper shut down always allow for a minute of running at idle? Will that make a difference?? The only other thing I can think of is heat.. The engine is crammed into the back of the skid with not a lot of room. All Heat shields are in place and cooling fins are cleaned regularly -- still it gets plenty hot back there.. Any thoughts??? Needless to say I'll be keeping a spare in inventory from now on....Thanks!
