Well while doing the rounds at my new house my wife calls me to the front yard (great what now im thinking) she shows me are 2 baby palms, who ever planted these didn't no what they where doing. The dirt has settled down and about 2 inches of the roots are exposed and its leaning over. I heard somewhere that air bubbles in the dirt can kill them is that true. My question is besides dirt is the anything at HD or Lowes i can get to help them and fill in the space It wuld only take about a bag of something to fill them in. What would you do

I am not a professional by no means but had same problem at my house and just added some extra dirt to mine and went to Home Depot here in arizona and they gave me some tree/plant food. They told me there should not be any problems with what I did.

If you can take a picture, that would help. Also what kind of palm are they?

Palm trees have NO root system, they don't like cold, and they must have manganese. Lesco has a special iron mix for them. So, if they are not too big (4-6') dig them up and fill in the hole with sand. Tie them for support while they are re-established. Put a lot of moth balls around them, water, water, water and hope they do not dry out. Their trunk is like a bunch of toothpicks tied together. Next time one dies, do a cross section cut and look--there isn't much there except for a lot of space for water. Where are you and as mentioned what kind of palms are they?
