I am thinking about purchasing a 48'' Turvent pull-behind aerator. I have read some good things about them on here, but would just like to here how they hold up after a few years of use. Thanks guys!

Well I went ahead and bought the Turfvent and used it all day on Friday. It does a great job and is well worth the money. Makes quick work of open areas and pulls decent plugs.

Glad you like it. They look like pretty good units and I've some good things about them also. Which did you get, the core or the tine? How much weight can you put in the tray, and does it have a greaseable hub/axle assembly?

I got the core 48''...the blade kinds are not beneficial for aerating...it says the limit for the trey is 200lbs but i used 180lbs and it did fine...its not gonna pull great plugs in real hard areas though...and yes it does have a greaseable axle.

I have an Agri-Fab 48" tow behind that is a lesser quality unit than the Turfvent. It carries about 170lbs in the tray, and I have found that if I water well before aerating that it does a good job and I can penetrate to the hub. If I don't water, it doesn't get very deep, but if I do water it pulls a pretty good plug. I have attached a pic of the plug it pulls.

those plugs look good...looks like some good soil too...here is 100% rock hard red clay...the only soil that looks like that around here is a sodded yard!
