What do you think. Compost is usually relatively high in P. Is there any data showing that applying compost at the time of Mycorrhizae inoculation inhibits, encourages, or doesn't affect the symbiotic relationship from forming?

Actual data preferred but I'm open to speculation. Thanks. :)

I am considering adding the Mycorrhizae inoculant with the compost, but wonder if it will decrease the effectiveness of the application?

I am not sure about the high P thing in compost, most of the wood/leaf based composts that I have seen have little to no P

If you are core aerating too, absolutely apply the Myco, it will get down into the root area where it will be effective

to save expense maybe you can trial it in an area, if you get good results next year you can move it into your program

The most fertile area in the soil is at the end of a root

Thanks for the info bill. Compost tested P is plant available (soluble) P correct?

Sorry, I stated 'compost is high in P' incorrectly. Let me lay down some math so you can see my concern. Say you apply 1/4" compost and Myco...

1/4" compost = about 400 lbs dry weight per K (1,000 sqft).

Say the compost has about .55% P by dry weight.

Multiply 400 by .0055 and find that you are applying 2.2 lbs of P per K.

If applying .5 lbs P in a starter fert causes Myco concern, applying 2.2 lbs P in a compost is an even bigger cause for concern, IMO.

Maybe I will just apply the Myco with my regular compost "dusting"... only .14 lbs P per K... Hmmmm things to wonder...

Anyone have links to studies showing the data between P and Myco development?
