I would like to spray castings tea. It seems like I should have a 600-800 gallon tank to spray 25 lawns which would be 5,000 sq ft - 6,000 sq ft. I have a 200, 175 and 100 gallon tank from my lawn service that I recently sold (mainly chemical apps.) I don't see too many large tanks out there. What are your thoughts on this and what are some of you using? Also what type of vehicle would such a large tank be good in? Thanks

I was thinking for starters I could take 2 of my 200 gallon tanks and connect them together and run them both off the same pump and hose. That way I could start with what I have and use 400 gallons / day to start. I could always bring my organic granular product with in case I run out of tea late in the day. What pump style would be good to use? 12 volt? Gas engine and diaphram pump or another style?

I would suggest a gas engine and centrifugal pump as the first choice and a diaphragm pump as the second choice. Most electric pumps use a diaphragm pump. I would stay far away from a roller pump for CT. An electric pump is going to be slow and probably won't have the pressure to push through a lot of hose with much pressure.

There are lots of large tanks out there so when you are ready for that, finding a 750, 1000 or even a 1600 gallon tank won't be hard but you should remember that CT has a shelf life so it is probably better to not have a tank so large that it sits in the tank too long.

400 gal is more than enough for a days worth of lawn applications. What is your tea to water ratio? Are you brewing your own tea?

I have a 2 tank system (500 gal & 25 gal.) with an 11 HP Honda & diaphragm pump. This allows me to apply turf, soil drenches for ornamentals, and spray up to 35 ft trees.

At 2 gallons per 1000 you would only need 250 gallons in a day
6000 x 25 = 125,000

some like to go as high as 5 gallons per 1000, sounds like you will have to make multiple trips back to the shop for more tea

or if you are diluting your tea take a 100 gallon tank of it with you and dilute in the field with fresh water

Or you can spend $250,000 for a franchise fee and then WAIT for safelawns to deliver the tea

Oh by the way, it is a 1000 gallon minimum. pre-diluted, not a concentrate:hammerhead: :dizzy:

Bill,

Is Safelawns delivering tea or extract? I'm thinking extract if it's delivered. Extract has a shelf life, while AACT does not.

Yes it is an extract, Todd makes it up and it is delivered via 5000 gallon diesel truck/trailer
They claim 3 to 4 week shelf life
