Hi,
I am located in New Jersey and my lawn was taken over by chickweeds I was going to dethatch then reseed this fall. Somebody suggested to use the Ortho Weed B Gone first to get rid of the chickweeds then reseed later.
I started 3 weeks ago with the weed b gone by using a spot sprayer waited 2weeks, like instructuins stated and this time used ortho hose end applaction, which worked much better and sprayed more evenly. This week I dethacthed using a pull behind dethacther, raked up all the thacth and put down scotts fall fertilizer.
The chickweeds are about half way killed off. On the instructions of the weed b gone its says only apply 2 application yearly. I was going to wait another 2 weeks and dethatch, rake up, use a plug type aerator and reseed. Or should I give it another shot of the weed b gone and wait till spring to reseed.
Oh and by the way I was going to use to scotts Sun and Shade mix with Kentucky Blue Grass.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Full of it x3

Chickweed is tough, and like crabgrass it seems to thrive on hot, dry weather.

I've found Ortho's Chickweed and Clover killer seems to work best/fastest. Its difficult to try to plant and fight weeds at the same time.

I would stick to fall planting, and focus on the weeds in the spring. An application of pre-emergent followed by selective herbicide spraying will get you moving in the right direction.

Best of luck,
