I need a photoshopped picture of a lawn so that the stripes "pop" but not enough to look fake. My designer doesnt understand what I want done to some of my pictures I'm using for advertising. So I need some so I can send him a link so he understands what I want done....
so please post away thanx

Here ya go....1st one is the pic u gave me, 2nd one is another pic i stole from ur thread. Might want to consider using a pic with stripes just going 1 way, when you start playing with levels in PS to make something like that "pop" almost makes a 2-directional stripe look confusing, whereas the 1 way looks a lot more defined (I did photography and some graphic design as a hobby before I was a landscaper lol)

In short, no. It looks good on the computer screen, but you have to think about it as you're going to see it: on the back of a trailer thats moving while you're driving. With that picture, theres a lot going on in that sign, with the picture, a lot to look at as your driving by. The best way to decide what you want is read signage on other vehicles as you're driving down the road. You will notice that you will usually only get the full name and maybe a phone number off a truck thats very simply done. I would say, a single, neutral color background with the name, phone number and maybe one or two of your major services. Thats it. Anything more and it gets too busy for people to comprehend as they see you on the road.

yeah I saw your "prototype" I like it, its simple, not a lot of words, I would still get rid of that background picture though. It would look great on a business card, but too much for a trailer sign IMO. I would do what you have, but a White background, blue lettering with black outline. Just my opinion though.

Why dont you learn how to mow strait and then put a striper on and you wont have to photochop them? what happens when the customer expects their lawn to look as good as your "fake" then you show up and it looks like crap when your done? i believe that's kinda like false advertising. I mean my grampa has cerebralpalsey and he can draw a straighter line on a etchasketch.
just joking buddie :) haha i bet you got steaming mad reading that.
you need to find a nice even yard thats on a hill going up to display the lines. just grass, nothing else.

You can use anything you want really, but just keep it simple. I suggest white because its a neutral color, and you can make just about anything pop off of it. My advice would be this: While you are driving around this week, see how many vehicles you pass on the road with some kind of signage on them, be it landscapers, plumbers, dry cleaners, erotic services, whatever, and see how many you can read the name, services and phone number you can read without really having to look to hard (because you're driving, remember?). youll find that the simple, big letters and simple colors catch your eye and are easy to see as you're passing, not the complicated ones. I like that you have the leaves in your logo as well, because without even reading past J and J I know you are into some type of outdoor services. Ideally, you want that part of the logo and your phone number to be the biggest and easiest to remember. So, as I pass your trailer sign as I'm driving down the road, I see it, its easy to read, I see J and J next to a leaf in the logo so hmm he must do outdoor work, I see the phone number in big lettering XXX-XXXX oh and the sign is on a trailer towing mowers. So thats J and J the landscaper, and his phone number is XXX-XXXX. Thats all the info you need, and it was presented quick and easy as I drive by your rig parked on the side of the road in 2 seconds.

Technically he isn't doing anything wrong. When you are done mowing a yard look at it in person and then take a picture with any camera and see if the picture looks nearly as good as what you see in person. I highly doubt it. Everything looks better in person unless you have a professional photographer take photos of a property for you. I have a Canon Rebel XTi and the stripes never are as bright on the camera as they are in person. Just a thought.
Also i wouldn't use either of those for a trailer first on is to busy and the second one your stripes are ummm.... shaky at best. Just like my stripes. Mine are all shaky. ROTF LMAO... :hammerhead: i would do something simple and if you want a picture on your trailer why not just do a full wrap. BUT be sure to park it in the shade when not in use and stored. If not it fades FAST!

Here's what I did to make my magnetic signs. First pic is the original, second is the cropping and the third is obvious. :)
