New to me any how. Question is .... are these new ("kai") series 19hp essentially just as powerfull as the older 23 hp kaw motors I'm acustomed to?

Some specs below....

Kawasaki Motors Corp., Grand Rapids, Mich., has significantly enhanced its gasoline engine product line by expanding its FD engine series and introducing two new engine lines, the FH KAI and FJ series. The engines range from 3 to 26 hp and target a range of outdoor power equipment applications, including commercial rider and walk-behind mowers and utility vehicles. In addition to the new engines, Kawasaki also announced that it has realigned its dealer support offices, expanded its Maryville, Mo., manufacturing plant and built its first engine testing facility in the U.S.

The new flagship of Kawasaki's engine range is the FH KAI line, christened with the Japanese term meaning evolution, improvement and renewal. Developed from the 17 hp, 90[degrees] V-twin Kawasaki FH500V engine, the KAI range includes four engines from 13 to 19 hp. With application in commercial rider and walk-behind mowers, the series includes the 19 hp FH580V, 17 hp FH541 V, 15 hp FH430V and 13 hp FH381V engines.

First into production, the two-cylinder FH580V and FH541V engines have a 585 cc displacement with a 2.91 in. x 2.68 in. bore and stroke and 71.2 lb. dry weight. The smaller two-cylinder Ft t430V and FH381V models have an overall displacement of 431 cc, a 2.6 in. x 2.6 in. bore and stroke and 70.5 lb. dry weight.

The engines' two-cylinder, air-cooled, compact V-twin design features cast iron cylinder liners, an internally vented carburetor and multiple air filter configurations. Oil pressure on the KAI series was increased by 40 percent in the upper bearing area by adding a new oil pump and additional oil line passage directly to this area, the company said. An oil pressure port was also added for oil pressure warning lamp operation.

The new FJ series covers five engine models rated 3, 6, 9.5, 11.5 and 13 hp. The forced air-cooled, single cylinder, horizontal and vertical shaft gasoline engines include an OHV design For greater low-end engine torque, the company said.
