View Full Version : Kawasaki FH500V RPM Question????

How can I increase/ adjust the rpm's on a Kaw FH500v? We have 2 of the 17hp on our walkbehinds and one runs quite a bit higher than the other one. The one that is running at lower rpms does not cut nearly as well.

I do not know, but it is quite a bit less than what my 54" is running at. Maybe 2600 ???? If I had to guess.

Did you do the usual? Fuel filter,air filter ,new plugs.

The linkage plate that is immediately below the carburetor is retained to the two the opposing heads by two 6mm bolts. You will find that the linkage plate under the right hand bolt is slotted. With the throttle control at full throttle, loosen the two bolts and raise the linkage plate a bit to elevate the rpm. I usually do this with the engine running and a digital tach attached to a plug wire so I can get the desired rpm and lock the bolts down.

Maybe Restro will show up and post a diagram with more easily understood instructions. I am not that computer literate nor do I have access to online service manuals.

If I recall correctly, suggested rpm is 3600 although I generalls set at 3400-3450.

Thank you Dutch! Im hoping restrorob see's this thread and chimes in. I'm having problems with both of my FH500V's.

Mine 17hp was running at 3800 and my 15 hp runs at that too.

3800 is too fast in my opinion and that isn't worth much. I prefer to stay a bit below mfg recommendations.

That's the way they can from the dealer ,never touched it.
