your opinion on the weight capacity of this truck. i am looking to buy either a 6x12 or 6x14 trailer with weed wacker rack, tool rack and tool box with full ramps of course. equipment to go on it will be a 48" bunton, 32" toro, 2 toro prolines 21" 2 trimmers, back pack blower etc. i was just thinking about the stopping capability of the truck with this equipment on it. i was also thinking of getting a bigger suspension system on the back to deal with this weight.
thanks for all your help!!!

I think the upgraded suspension is a good idea, a 6 X 12 full of equipment is pretty heavy. Trust me with a half ton you will be squating at the end of the day when you have a full load of grass. What kind of motor, please dont say you have the 4.3.

Get a dual axle trailer, less weight on the hitch if loaded right. Get a trailer with brakes also.

Make sure you have trailer brakes. do a little suspension upgrade but dont push that half ton. Your axle wont hold the weight of a heavyer truck. It should tow pretty good but get a 3/4 ton when you get the money.

I have the same truck, 1990 chevy. I tow a 6'x18' trailer, no brakes. I have 200K on it, and until this year was used daily. I also plowed w/ it from new, the doors are falling off, but no problem towing or handling weight.

If you have the auto overdrive add a trans cooler and do not tow in overdrive, or you will lose the tranny fast!

Also, the 305 is a really sick motor, actually weaker than the 4.3.

I would dump that dog and get at least a 3/4 ton HD with a 350.

Better yet, a diesel.

And don't tow unless your axle ratio is at least a 3.42:1

The 3.08:1 will be sick if that's the gear you have.

Also, you don't have adequate brakes, and the 8.5" rear is weak.

Need I go on?
