i have a small trailer that is about 5X8 home made out of pipe that is a dump bes. i fit a 36" wb 2-21" and an edger. the trimmers and blowers go in the back of the truck for now. thinking of building some trimmer adn blower racks on the trailer with locks, but am worried about throwing the balance off on the empty dump. good luck with your choice. vince

any racks will keep a trailer organized and keep ur investments from walking off!

You should have no problem putting trimmer/blower racks on, they will just be higher, so don't get the 4 place trimmer rack unless you want to have to really reach for the top most trimmer. When getting the high sides, all your doing is putting more weight on the trailer, so the overall payload will be less than if you were to just have the standard height sides.
I would actually like to get a smaller trailer as a second trailer for when I get my stand on mower, so I don't have to pull around a heavy trailer.

you should put a jungle jim's basket and trimmer holders on it.

Spend the extra $100-200 bucks and get the 6x10. Anything narrower than six feet in width is hard to see in your mirrors and even harder to back up.

Hello, New to the site, was on ******** though. I have a 6.5X12' open trailer with 1 ft sides. No rack for trimmer/blowers yet, we do the trimmer/blower in the back of the truck. Out of view and no risk of them bouncing around violently. My trailer really bounces the mowers around over 40mph.

You can fit a lot on a 6'x10'. We got a 52" Lazer, 32" Quick, 3 place trimmer rack, backpack blower rack, and a hand held blower. Not in the picture but on the trailer now a 60"x21.5"X18" box on the tounge and a spool rack. Also carry some rakes, a shovel and a broom.

I can put my 48" WB a 21" push trimmer and edger on a rack, a BP blower on its own rack I also used PVC tubes to build a hand tool rack for rakes and shovels and a broom, I can also carry an 8 cubic foot wheelbarrow or my Little Wonder HPV vacuum...On the front of the trailer I put a used tool box from an S10?Ranger that holds my oil, spool of string and small hand tool....I have also built 2' and 6' sides for it to help with carrying leaves or mulch depending on season...

It may look it, however I am 450 LBS under capacity.
Here are 2 more pictures to show the box on front and the spool on the side.

Thanks... we try and use all available space and still be able to work out of it. We want a bigger trailer but that will have to wait until next year when we can get out of the city.

That is about what I was seeing here a couple of years ago when I was looking for mine. The guy I got mine from wanted $850 but I was able to trade an older car (that I wasn't using and was in the way) straight up.

if you are welding it then just the cost of materials. if you are having it built by a welder at least $65 an hour and materials + markup from him on the materials. don't know what your cost of materials are around there. best bet is to take it to take the pic to where you will ahve it built and get a quote. vince

Thanks we like it also.
Yes it can. It will barely bump it and leave a small dent that I can pop out by hand. I had to go with that size because I wasn't going to wait 3 to 4 weeks for them to ship me a 60" X 18.5" X18".
In the box we have:
2 gallon mix fuel container
spare belts for both machines
spare pulleys for the Lazer
tool box full of wrenches, pliers, etc etc..
Split boom pole saw with 2 extensions and a brush cutter head ( made by Troy-Bilt but does the job sees limited use)
Echo chainsaw
Echo hedge trimmers
Collapsible trash barrel
Hand sprayer
Pruners and lopers.
There is probably more...
The box is so handy to have... if we think we might use it we toss it in the box.

61" Ferris Z on my 6x12, more room but not enough for another Z, it is close enough where I tried once though. I think you could get any mower on a 6x10.

That looks like a pretty nice trailer except it has some major design flaws.
1. that axle is deffinately to far back way to much tounge weight.
2. while that thick strait toung may support it it would be much better suited to A frame toung.
I have quite a bit of welding experience and buy alot of steel and just roughly guessing i would think that would cost me about $300 to build the main frame not including the axle or expanded metal sides.

It is going to depend on what you want to put on a trailer as to what is the best size.
I have a 6.5 X 12 as my main trailer an put my 52" Lazer Z HP and a 34" Phazer with enough room to also put on a 36" walk behind. Before I bought the Phazer I had two 36" Metro WB's and the 52" HP and never had any problems loading it. While on the other hand I also have a 5' X 10' trailer that I have not used to haul any of the mowers.
At one time I was thinking about selling it and was asked if I could get the 52" Z and a 36" WB on it. I tried and the only way was to have the front wheels on the WB hanging over the side I could not load it without difficulty and it was a real pain. I would not advise a 5' X 10' trailer for anyone who is looking at putting a Zero Turn and any other mower on it without a test load first.

I have a 5x10 and I wish I had the 6x10. This is my first season and only do it part time but definitely want to upgrade to a 6x10. I've already rec'd a larger account and am thinking of getting a 60" deck ZTR but my 5' wide trailer is just a hair under 60" wide. The 60" ztr won't fit.

thanks for the pictures GregByrd how did you attach the pvc tubes
i've got a 5x10 with a trimmer rack & a home made box/handtool rack, we fit all our gas cans directly under the box, hedge trimmer, toolbox & bucket with extra stuff (straps, extra hand tools, etc) then in the bed of the trailer we fit a 36" walk behind, a 21" trim mower & 3 backpack blowers....we handle 76 weekly accounts off it without any real problem, but we have a 36" & a 48" so im hoping by the end of next season to upgrade the trailer

thanks for the pictures GregByrd how did you attach the pvc tubes
We used some u-bolts out of some exhaust clamps. We used the pvc to position the u-bolt, clamped it down, pulled out the pipe, welded them in place, and after it cooled down we slid the pvc back in. Made them a tight fit, they will not come out.

I can fit my ZTR and WB on my 5x10, with the WB wheels hanging over the front. Its tight but it works. I wouldnt go any smaller than a 6x12 if i were you. As soon as i get more space i am going to get a 7x16.
